Of all the smart forfour reviews this is the best. Thanks mate

Thank You for sharing Your experience with us. But the engine is not made by Mitsubishi any more. This second version of the 'forfour' was engineered by Mercedes Benz in cooperation with Renault. It shares 70% of it's components with the 'Renault Twingo'. Greetings from Germany. :-)

Unfortunately this car is no longer congestion charge free, I have the twingo (this car's twin) with the same 900cc turbo engine & it's brilliant on the motorway. Both the twingo & forfour are excellent cars, can easily recommend one after a year & a half with mine, each car has it's charm, it all depends on which brand you prefer or what looks you prefer, I think personally the twingo looks better. But whatever you choose, you are getting an amazing car.

The only downside to this excellent review, is that he did not mention how much this car cost. Remember, all Four fours cost in excess of £11,900, and the amount of costly extras featured on this particular car would have made it so expensive, that few people would ever consider buying it. In this instant, buying the far cheaper, and almost identical to drive Renault Twingo would make more sense.
@jasonwest66109 жыл бұрын
+John Hatton The car cost was £12,800 and I am certain they will sell thousands of units regardless. The Twingo does not look anywhere near as nice either in my opinion. people who buy Smarts do it for the love of the brand.

I have a smart forfour with a Tomtom sat nav installed. For some reason thew sat nav and mappings have gone completely grey on screen and will not work at all. I have no idea what's caused it to happen like this and really need to get the sat nav working again. If anyone might know any information that could be helpful, then please let me know. Thanks.

It is challenging to work out whether to go for the smart and twingo which share plenty due to their being based on the same shared platform. Some random thoughts belo: The Twingo possibly looks a bit nicer on the outside and the forfour is better on the inside. Though "engineered by merc", the safety ratings for the smart vehicle, presumably due to its size etc are quite disappointing: Twingo Euro ncap 78% adult, 81% child Smart Forfour euro ncap 78% adult 77% child I think both vehicles are very similar and you get some slightly different features. You can really throw extra cash away on a smart brabus which has around 18 ish more horsepower than the 90hp turbo charged variant but again it is difficult to justify spending the extra cash rather than moving up a vehicle class instead. Overall, i think the forfour would be a more compelling option if it was priced a bit better. The turbo 90 hp version is really really nippy and fun to drive. I assume the twingo is very similar. Limited to city type driving, a whole load of fun can be had with one of these vehicles as the forfour is fast from a dead stop and can easily do 40 mph in 2nd gear which is what i found from my test drive yesterday. I'm not sure whey smart didnt give us the option to make this a five seater, and that's something that i know has put someone i know looking for this sort of vehicle off. In terms of maneuverability, i dont think any vehicle that's a four seater is going to out do the twingo and the forfour. The turning circle is incredible. It does have its advantages there. For anyone after a seriously practical vehicle rather than a small nippy vehicle should probably consider different options a class or two up from this one. This car does have its niche, and that niche is quite a small niche, of someone wanting a tiny car carrying 4 passengers in tight environments and easy to park. Personally i found it really really fun to drive (like a go cart) and super quick in short distances. It was so much fun leaving other vehicles behind from stop lights and I would consider it a worthy option to use as a run-around vehicle for driving around town, certainly.

The forfour passion automatic has manually operated door mirrors. Really? In 2017 all cars should have electrically operated door mirrors as standard. They could shove their trip computer where the sun don't shine and provide a sensible mirror operation instead. If you want to adjust the mirror on the passenger side, you have to stretch across the passenger seat to adjust it then check it from the driver position, then stretch again to readjust it, then check it again....FUUUCK!

+Ally Church Not any more, Mercedes unfortunately dropped the magnificent 799cc CDi engine back in September 2014. All Smarts are now petrol units. I still own a ForTwo Cdi, and its a great thing to own, returning impressive economy.
