I've used this place. Brilliant there. They replaced my discs and pads. I also had a new steering column fitted and an engine mount. The car drove home better than it ever was since I've owned it.. And also 10 minutes walk to the Bull Ring..

Look at all those parts donors! Reminds me of a place I frequented in me youth, Arndt's Wreck-King, home of "experienced parts".....got the radio for my '57:Chevy there!

It's amazing seeing such a wonderful garage to take your Smart to. I live in Australia, far from the city in a small country town. I had a Smart 451, which was fun but sold it to buy a Smart 452. Both wonderful quirky cars. Now I'm carless but want a 450. Smarts in Oz are not plentiful. Getting them serviced can be expensive. Mercedes will service them here. However, I found a great mechanic in Brisbane who did all the work on my Smarts, it's a 6-hour round trip for me. No motorways and top speed here is 100ks per hour. I envy all the facilities you have in Britain and Europe . Loved your video.

The love for them started in 2001 when I purchased one of the first right hand drive cars in the UK. Went to the launch party. Great evening. When my “then” wife and I went separate ways the Smart went too. Fast forward 19 years and I sat in my living room recollecting memories and just had to find one (the Smart that is 😊). The 2001 car was black with green (lime?) interior. It was a Pulse. I loved it. Couldn’t find an identical car but this 450 (had to be the 450 although I do love all Smarts) had spent 15 years inside a large Motorhome so hadn’t been used much (which can sometimes be an issue) and more importantly had not been in the sun. Interior is almost like new. Yes I feel lucky to have a specialist within 1 hour drive and I do know of customers travelling over 200 miles to use their services. Hope you get a 450. Front centre engine mount rubber has rotten on my 2006 450 , now get a heck of a bung clunk when moving off from start or going over a speed bump , sound like the engine hitting the bottom of the car ! , I noticed when you filmed underneath the mount on yours is the same as mine and the rubber mount holder is welded to the subframe unlike newer ones which are all bolted mounts , having a heck of a time finding the centre rubber bush , seems Mercedes no longer supplies the rubber as a separate piece , I will find one somehow lol so if you still have the car listen out for that loud clunk from the rear as it perishes with age .

That’s not good. Particularly as it sounds like the part is problematic to source. Thanks for the info. It’s good to know. I have no plans to sell the car as it is my favourite of the small fleet so will definitely keep an “ear” out for the noise. Thanks for watching and I hope you get your Smart fixed soon.
