Lights are one of the first but unfortunately - not always a huge QOL improvement. I started with automating central heating and room heaters to SOLVE real-life issues like the heating bill. Secondly, got a smart socket to automate electric heater in the second bathroom but the biggest game changer for me was... learning that Alexa has a "wait" function built in so with a "shower time" command I can have Alexa not only run the small bathroom heater but also have it wait for 45 minutes and switch it off after that. Same with a quick cooling automation with the AC. If I were to talk about next upgrades - probably the blinds. Lights? Not so much.

Automation is all about spending that upfront energy/ cost/ time so you can save collective seconds/ minutes/ hours down the line.

For me, the most useful items I have bought are Hue lights and then pairing them with Aqara buttons. I've tried to do more with fans, AC and space heaters, but HomeKit compatibility can be a challenge.

Yeah it takes time and tinkering, even I get frustrated at times 😅

Hi Sergio - the IR blaster you featured you showed what appears to have a homekit integration. Yet, when I read the description of the product there is no mention of homekit so I am assuming you had to use homebridge or homeassistant - to get it into Apple Home. Am I correct - if so can you point me to which plug in you need for that? Thank you.
@bhogan002Ай бұрын
I also have read the same. No homekit integration listed.

My guess is he is using Home Assistant to bridge to HomeKit
@FromSergioАй бұрын
Yeah home assistant bridge to homekit. Homebridge would also get the job done!

@@FromSergio This product on Amazon does not mention compatibility with HomeKit. How've you managed to do it?

considering you already have eufy cameras i would say the eufy x10 omni would be a good vac

Is there a way to make philips / delonghi coffee maker a part of my smart home? Some way to program it to start making coffee automatically on for instance 8:00 am time. The machine itself has no software or no remote control..
@FromSergioАй бұрын
I don't have either of those, I really only drink espresso which takes 10s to make, but a simple smart plug is enough to have it turn on at 8am. As for manually triggering a function that would take some tinkering with chips inside but it's possible with ESP32's and ESPhome as long as someone has a plugin for it.
@tomicaa11Ай бұрын
@FromSergio i do have to manually press power button for it to start :/

Oops! 😂 As long as it has an NDIR sensor it should be good. The Qingping Air Monitor Lite seems to be the cheapest but I'm not 100% sure it uses NDIR. The most affordable that I'm comfortable recommending would be the Aranet4. it's cheaper than the awair element and performs just the same. Happy new year!

If you're saying some speakers don't sound even as good as a sound bar, you probably shouldn't recommend them. No sound bars are better than barely decent.
