why would electrical tape cause fire?

@@Bite0fBread….. 1-the heat of the 120 volt ac connection will eventually cause the electrical tape to break down. 2-it won’t be in compliance with the electrical code in any USA or Canadian city. 3-if you need to ask why , you shouldn’t be playing around with the electrical connections in the first place.

Electrical tape doesn't cause a fire but the wires especially on a fan that moves around can easily be undone from the tape and short out causing a spark which can catch things on fire especially if your ceiling has certain types of insulation near the junction box in the ceiling. It should trip the breaker but it's not a guarantee and all it takes is one time. And why risk it when you can just safeguard from a potential hazard using some cheap and correct connectors in the first place.

How can I do this without hooking the wires to that type of connection. The room I’m trying to put them in has different type of lights. Can I bring my own power source in. Is there one I can plug into the wall and then plug the wires in that?
