Another great rig, well explained. Great stuff. I've been experimenting on the most productive way on fishing the PVA bag. Add a loop to the hooklink so you can loop on a new one to the swivel when needed. Use an avid stem, so you can prepare bags in advance and just loop onto you leader or mainline when needed. Use the fox rapid system, really easy to make bags up tight without any tape. Tight lines 👍

Yes you can, as long as you keep the PVA away from moisture - so it is possible to make bags a week or so in advance. Although if making bags in advance I find it better to make a small hole for the Smart Liquid nozzle in the side of the bag and squeeze some in just before casting out.

@@nickcross2900 For the hookbait I'd go for something fairly small and wafting or popped up so it fill sit above the pellets; Pastel Barrel Wafters, 12mm Balanced Wafters are perfect as are the Toppers for a popped up presentation. The Spod & PVA pellets are then great as the fill because theres so many different sizes in one mix - so they breakdown at different times and fill any unwanted air pockets helping you make a compact bag.

I as you have recommended tie them at home in advance and keep them in them dry and inject liquid into the bag on the bank, my question is how long can I confidently leave them tied up that I know the little mainline wafters I use won’t dry out or not act how they are designed as I don’t get on the bank much at the minute. @MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV4 жыл бұрын
Yes you could, but as the rig can't tangle in the bag and to also keep it nice and short I just tie the rig straight to the ring swivel. Another little tip is to make up a few bags (at home before your session) and keep them in the tup with the pellets so they stay dry - any mishaps or after landing fish theres another bag ready to go!

Hi I was wondering what do I do with the mainline and where do I tie it

The best, easiest and quickest way to attached the bag/leader is loop-to-loop. So tie a loop in your main line large enough to pass the bag through using a figure of eight knot.

Have not long got into carp fishing, and lookingbat giving solid bag rigs a go this summer, get a nice concentrated patch of groundbait around the hookbait. The one part with a lot of demo's of how this rig works, shows a lead that drops loose when reeled in. Does the lead have to drop off? Does it majorly impact the effectiveness of the rig if it doesnt? Am not sure i want to leave the couple of lakes i fish cluttered up with leads within a few seasons lol
@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV3 жыл бұрын
No you don't always need to use a drop off lead system, but... if you're fishing a weedy situation, dropping the lead makes landing fish a whole lot easier.
@cristiiulian70314 жыл бұрын
Hey guys...any tips for cold season fishing ? Thanks
@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV4 жыл бұрын
Generally speaking, the carp will become less active, so pick venues with a high stock of fish where having some active carp present is more likely. Attraction rather than quantity can be key where baits are concerned, bright hookbaits such as our Hi-Visual Pop-ups coupled with a match spray can be a real winner. As we've mentioned the fish can become quite dormant so don't be afraid to recast, and move around the lake where possible until you find the pockets of fish. Hope this helps a little, we will have winter tip videos hitting the channel soon!

@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV4 жыл бұрын
Hey Tommy, yep solid bags can be a real winner - especially on venues where the carp like pellets. As for Upper Tamar... firstly a lovely lake with a good head of carp, and its fishing really well at the moment. Its a big lake at around 80 acres but don't be put off by that as you can normally find some fish in most areas. The carp will follow the wind and do like the margins so don't ignore a rod in the edge, and in most cases fishing at catapult range is a good bet. There lots of silver fish so boilies of 15-20mm size are my number one choice, with Cell and Essential Cell doing really well. Apart from that speak to Aaron in the tackle shop as he knows the lake really well and can help point you in the right direction. Tight lines over there fella!

@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV3 жыл бұрын
Yes this means you lose the lead, but without the lead the hooked fish will swim much higher in the water, making it much easier to play to the bank when the lake is weedy. If the lake or fishing situation is free from weed or snags then you can attach the inline lead conventionally so it won't drop off.

Brilliant video as usual! Also have a question for you - currently considering a base mix for milky-chocolate wafters, and struggling to chose from Cell, Essential Cell and High Leakage 50/50. Would appreciate any suggestions/advises/thoughts on that. Cheers
@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV4 жыл бұрын
As they are hookbaits I’d go for the High Leakage 50/50 which will also have a neutral flavour to accept your flavour choices then mix with cork dust or Polaris pop-up mix to create a Wafter. 👍

@@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV Thanks for the quick reply! That's makes sense to me. And what about activators, the water is getting cold so whether it worth to use them? If so how what's the ratio you'd recommend to start with?
@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV4 жыл бұрын
Constantine C the activators will be fine in cold water - I’d use 5mm to one egg (for hookbaits).

Eastern underground sounds I’d go for a similar short rig and a small hookbait like a 12mm Hi-Visual pop-up.

How long on average does it take for a PVA bag to fully break down? I know water temperature is a big factor, but just an average.
@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV4 жыл бұрын
Hi Andy, without the Smart Liquid or where the Smart Liquid isn't in contact with the PVA its only a minute or so - a little longer around the tail rubber where the bag is tied and the PVA is more dense. Because the Smart Liquid is PVA Friendly it will prolong the breakdown time of the PVA - a handy edge when you're fishing in deep water and want to ensure the bag is well on the bottom before melting. In this video you can see with the Smart Liquid in the middle the bottom of the bag melts first to expose the hookbait then the middle of the bag and remaining feed a little later.

Does anyone find the pellets stick together too much once the pva has melted when using the smart liquid? I have done tests and they seem to just clump together. Any help would be appreciated!
@seabassmastermatt802 жыл бұрын
They do...need to break up with stick mix under it. The editing on this is after someone's prodded the bag for sure.

I’m a new fisherman and I’m a bit confused on the led bit so when a fish pulled the led just comes of in the water?
@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ethan, in weedy or snaggy fishing situations it can pay to drop the lead as it becomes much easier to land the fish as they generally swim much higher in the water, so tend to not get stuck in weedbeds etc. In clear water situations this is not needed and the inline lead can be set-up in the standard way.

What size lead is the best to use with what size bag.
@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim, there are not really any hard set rules here, as you can get a large lead into a small bag - but as a rule of thumb I'd use a small bag for casting further, a large bag when lakebed debris is a concern i.e. more fill in the bag makes a bigger spread for the hookbait to be well presented. Because you need to consider the weight of the overall bag i.e. lead plus pellets I tend to use a 2.5oz lead most (in a small bag) so I cast with 15lb main line and without the need of a shock leader. Hope this helps.

I love this product but I noticed you didn't put the smart liquid at the bottom of the bag? I've found if you do this it prolongs the breakdown massively of the PVA and pellet around the hookbait. This is great in deep water but I've found if you are after "a quick bite" the smart liquid soaked pellet and hookbait can stay in a solid mass for ages with the hookbait literally trapped, especially if tied up in advance. It seems like a waste of a bag and bait but always tank test your solid bags before a session!
@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV4 жыл бұрын
Yep Ben you can use the Smart Liquid or other PVA friendly liquids to prolong the PVA dissolve - great in deep water like you say. With this bag it was in the middle so the bottom section melts quickly to expose the hookbait with the centre of the bag dispersing attraction for a little longer. Thanks for your tips!

Only if you set the lead to drop i.e. its going to help you land hooked carp in weedy conditions, oh and you hook a load of carp (hopefully!)

How long in advance could you make these up before the smart liquid soaks into the pellets or ground bait? Thinking of making a few up the night before to be ready to go when I get to the bank.
@MainlineBaitsCarpFishingTV3 жыл бұрын
The night before should be fine Dave - even if the Smart Liquid soaks into the baits a little it will still react. You can also squirt the Smart Liquid into the already tied bag just before casting out, as you can see in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4mmha2efMZ2n7s
