I have a YoLINK Motion Detector in my mailbox. It works great until the temperature goes below freezing! Anxiously awaiting the new Mailbox Sensor there working on!

For mailbox notification: I found it better to use the motion sensor that has a magnetic back for easily placement/removable in the inside back of a mailbox. Use lithium AAA to handle the cold & hot weather conditions. I've been using this gadget for 6 months and it works great. The sensor is small and pretty unnoticeable if placed at the back and upward sections inside a metal mailbox. For those who have a community or apartment mailbox, where the mailperson opens the back to place the mail in, a friend attached the sensor to the front door and it works fine.

Thank you. I really like the Wyze Sense but the range is really limited. The Wyze website states they are coming out with another improved generation of the Wyze Sense, soon. -Todd

I gave up on the unreliable and now discontinued Wyze sensors and went with Yolink. Longer battery life & much longer range -- happy so far.

Good review! I have had good luck with these, I have a metal pole barn that gets no reception on anything else I have tried but these work fine.

While mounting inside is a trickier alignment it makes sense to keep the sensor from weather conditions and theft.

I placed a Yolink motion sensor inside my square apt style mailbox 146 feet from my hub. Works great. Motion tells me when something has been placed in the box.

Did you place it at the back of your mailbox facing forward, or on the side inside?

@@h3ll0_2 The final position was in a corner on the bottom, facing toward the door. I wadded up some blue painter's tape to make a sort of half cube. Wanted it to fit into the corner but a flat surface for the sensor to "lean" back into the corner. This has "watching" for mail to fall from the 10" tall top to the bottom. Works great. I used to have it flat on the bottom facing up. But I got two false positives every day. When the mailman opened the rack with his key, and pulled forward to expose the opening at the top, the sensor saw movement as if someone was moving something in front of it, though it was 10" above it. Then when he closed the rack, the sensor saw motion again. Of course, if he dropped something in my box, the sensor saw still one more movement that fell on it. This means, I could depend on 2 false positives each mail delivery day. And to cypher if I really got mail, I had to count three alerts from the sensor. One when he opened. One when mail fell in. One when he closed. So, I had to remember over a period of just a few minutes was it 2 or 3 alerts. But propped against the corner reading only 3-4 inches angled upward, now, I get no false positives. So, if he drops mail, I know he came and left me mail. If I hear nothing during that 10:30-1:30 window, I can presume, no mail. Still not as perfect as a camera, but serves me well. Helpful?

I see some new items on your Office shelves -- very nice! You'll have to show me everything next time I visit. I would be even more interested in this "You've Got Mail" device, but Shannon & Ashlynn won't let me walk out to get the mail anymore.

It's working Very well. Daba likes it! He knows when the mail has come and doesn't have to walk out there - UNTIL he hears this in the house!

I find that any time I test a magnetic alarm of this kind, testing it over and over within a few seconds, it will fail part of the time. But if I test it once every 30 seconds or more, it does not.

It's great video. You got a big house with the Gate, the YoLink LoRa long range smart home system is best solution for it.

Maybe I missed it, but how do you have it make the announcement when the mail is delivered but not when you pick it up? That’s the real challenge.

Google, not yet; some YoLink products do (almost all are Alexa-compatible and work with IFTTT). Interestingly, we are working on an official HA integration (due later this year) along with an SDK and developer board. BTW, we do have an API available, and maybe a dozen customers working on their own HA integrations, querying device status, etc.

I used to keep a zigbee motion sensor in my mailbox but those things get pretty hot in the summer. I worried about the battery in that heat. Had not considered a contact sensor on the outside though. Wish someone made one in black to match my mailbox. I guess you miss AOL with your announcement.

So you need another hub to connect? Won't work with Smarthings hub? Is this wifi or zigbee? Thank you

Yes. You need the YoLink smart hub. As stated, in the video, I want to ditch my Smartthings Hub because it duplicates my devices within Alex. The YoLink devices work with the YoLink smart hub over LoRa wireless. That's- Long Range! I have another YoLink video coming soon, showing the motion sensor. They seem like nice products, with great distance!
