If your calendar just tells "Loading...", is because you are using the link of the public calendar, and it has to be public. You should use the link of "Secret address in iCal format".

I ve a question on google assistant i can set a reminder that google shows in the calendar. Do you know a way to show reminders on smart mirror like for the calendar? Because i cant go on the settings of it and it seems that there isnt a link for incorporate them...

@Grensom what microsd card did you use with your raspberry Pi for your smart mirror? It seems quite snappy... I have bought a SanDisk ultra 32gb don't know if it will be fast enough. And whether it will be much slower than a SanDisk extreme pro? They say if the ad card is being used a lot continuously then the sandisk ultra isn't good, especially like for a smart mirror... Any thoughts?

curious since the mirror is in the bathroom and you put holes so it can vent, the shower doesn't affect the mirror when it fogs up? Probably a dumb question, but just found this video today, it's awesome, just wonder if it can be used there as well without any long term problems.

It's actually a really good questions and the same thing I forgot to address until I installed it. It would long term cause issues with corrosion of the circuitry if not addressed. What I did to protect my electronics from moisture is using a "Conformal Coating" silicone gel that covers the electronics and protects them from dust, moisture etc. I used this to cover all electronics in the mirror and have had it in my bathroom for 2 years now without issues.

Honestly, I have messed around more with Google Assistant and have found it is easier to manipulate code in this rather than the Alexa download. The Google Assistant software has the pre-built LED indicator so you can use a light bar such as the one seen here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ql7KhJ2af71ofrs As far as the Alexa goes though, I am more familiar with AWS and the developers so I like to create my own skills with Alexa. I guess they both have their limitations and the preference is what type of DIY project I am doing.

Pretty cool, but i have a question. Can alexa/google assistant edit the modules? When you have multiple agendas you can say: show my work agenda (and all the other agendas disappear) Any idea on how to do this? (I have an idea, but you need the assistant to edit the config file)

I haven't really thought about this yet, but I can see this being possible. I know there is a module to allow you to add and remove modules via Alexa, so I guess if you made separate Calendar Modules for each agenda, you could do it this way. Great video, but I would recommend using the secret address instead of publishing your personal calendar to the world. Once public your schedule can be found in a simple google search... unless you're into that sort of thing.

Grensom, in gmail calendar settings I made my calendar public and copied Public address in Ical format to config on MM, but it doesnt show in calendar. First i tried adding it as You did in video beneath the costum calendar and afterwards deleting custom but then it states: No events. I am using MM 2.4.1 build…?

It should still work with the updated MM version. I would make sure that there are no spelling mistakes or configuration mistakes in the config.js file. I remember the first time I set it up it didn't work and turns out I was missing an "s" in the address and a comma in the configuration file.

Grensom I triple checked everything. I even used config from sample cos I was thinking that I misstyped something prior messing with calendar. I do also have problem with current app costum module that You have in this video. My costum weather forecast works normaly but current weather module doesn't show at all. It was from the scratch I installed MM.

Found it: First, make your preferred calendar public (write protected) on your favourite iDevice (Calendar -> Calendars -> i -> Public calendar). Then log in to icloud.com, select Calendar, click the "Calendar Sharing Info" button, and copy the webcal link. Paste this in place of the default webcal link in config.js Not sure if this will work with Alexa, as Alexa isn't available in Norway yet.

You would have to change the Language abbreviation in the config.js file. At the beginning you will see Language: "en". I am not exactly sure what Languages are supported, but try changing that to "da" (I believe this is the Danish abbreviation) and see if that works.

isn't there a nice solution with an android tablet to use? someone could use a 10'' tablet and create a much smaller solution with less headache. the issue is that i don't know if there is anything good out there. smart mirror should be able to have a camera behind the glass.... be able to do a video call, see a youtube video. etc. by the way i like the size of the mirror

I have tried to setup with a Tablet, there are a few Apps for it on Google Play - but nothing I have really liked. The formatting is too small even on a 10" screen, there's really no flexibility with Configuration so for me it's not worth it. Additionally, there's no easy way to put the tablet to sleep and turn it back on right to the app for power control - The way I see it, if you spend the money for all these parts and use a Tablet with a small screen and need it on 24/7 it's not gonna be worth the money. I recommend doing it the right way with some type of larger display and a Raspberry Pi. It takes 3 minutes to download the most basic program and you can manipulate to the extent of your liking.

Your calendar api key (directly under the public one) can be private, you don't have to share your calendar (have it checked to be shareable) just be sure to copy the private one and you'll be good
