truth is there is a few iconic sets right now, team up, evolving skies, 151. These will be the ones worth owning, imho. They are more expensive then other sets but that's for a very good reason

I’m really pissed off about the Paldea Evolved price increase😡 I was planning to buy this box for $140-$150 to open in a few months and by the time that I buy this I’m thinking that it’s going to be $250. I’m also genuinely really worried about Unified Minds going to the moon and being at least a $1,500 box in the next few months🥶, another box that I was planning to buy. The problem is that I only have $500 to spend right now and no job. Do I buy a Paldea booster box, Prismatic Evolutions packs for retail, Evolving Skies packs, or save for a Unified Minds box. I need some advice because my mind is twisting and turning in every direction righr now😵‍💫

Man, I’d say if you only have $500 and no job, you probably shouldn’t be buying Pokemon cards. Edit: I also don’t mean that disrespectfully, but be cautious, lots of things should be prioritized over buying cardboard.

As PokeProfit said, if you only have $500 and no job, Pokemon cards should not be on the shopping list. This is a hobby where people throw *disposable income. I'd say just put the $500 in your savings. You can enjoy the hobby once you have more going on.
