I used to use Twitter and Facebook a decent amount, a long time ago (FB before Twitter), but I soon got burned out; all throughout my time at university I only used Messenger, as a way to communicate with group-assignment teammates. Otherwise...meh, pointless. All I really use my smartphone for is reading fanfiction and occasionally texting family, mainly - I even hate the "phone" part, since actual calls are so disruptive, sudden, force me to move attention away from what I'm doing (what I prefer to be doing), and actually *talk* when I hate talking. Can't wait for phone calls to go extinct...

Keyboards cause problems too. Because of what I do for a living, I've done HEAVY keyboard use for 30 years. Now my thumbs don't function and BOTH need operated on due to arthritis. The 2nd joint of one thumb needs pins, the base joint of the other needs "cleaned out". It's from constantly hitting the spacebar. My body has learned to type with only 8 fingers. Funny thing is, I'm not that much slower!

The same things were said about TV’s in the 1950’s. “criticisms aimed at TV were that television has turned society into an audience that is dependent on the need for constant entertainment. People spent more time in the house than ever before. People no longer needed to go to major events, they could watch them on the television without the hassle of transportation to the event or the cost of the ticket. This gave rise to the derogatory term “couch potato.” In addition, it was said that TV destroyed the sense of community, discouraged reading, shortened attention spans, and promoted violence.” Sigh. Same thing, different decade!

Er not really equivalent I'm sorry to say. People do not walk around with bad posture, looking down at a TV in their hand, that is giving them Information Overload in between getting Information Overload from the internet at home. This comes from from Social Media + Lots of news stories + browsing + etc. There is some evidence that the Western short-term memory has dropped from 9+/-2 memories to 5+/-2 compared to older generations. TL:DR TV OK, phones ok, but everything in moderation and keep an eye on your posture.

Going faster than 25 mph would make your blood boil), radio waves were bad, tv was bad (would ruin your eyesight), computers were bad, now cell phones are bad.
