We just completely remodel a house and rewired all new switches and outlets. I was pissed I passed on the Bluetooth recessed lighting, but it was just too expensive for the entire house. We went with LED recessed lighting and now I AM STOKED, I'll just replace all the switches instead. After doing my research and coming across your video, it makes more sense and it's cheaper. Win/win baby! Thanks for the video.

One negative of the switches is you cannot automatically adjust the white color temperature. This is incredibly useful for 'follow-the-sound' type of automation. But it's for you to decide if that's worth the added cost for you.

Excellent. I’m just at this conjuncture with my smart home system. Very helpful. I love your videos. Always great information very well presented.

I’m currently trying to make this decision. I’m going to installing some retrofit LED pot lights in my kitchen and the decision is do I go with smart pot lights which I could individually control with Alexa or get standard LED pot lights and install a smart switch. With either scenario I will still be adding an additional switch. My drawback on the smart switch is it would be the only dimmer/smart switch in the house so it may seem out of place.

How many watts does it use while is off on average?

If Phillips Hue smart light require a hub, is that a bad thing or out dated? if there are others where you do not need a hub?
@GreeniusGenius2 жыл бұрын
It’s not a bad thing. Sure there are Wi-Fi bulbs, but frankly nothing can match the reliability.

I use wifi bulbs, no hub, they work great. Your hub then is your wifi router. The range is good on 2.4ghz.

Your router option link does not work

I have 2 fans with a pull chain and with 3 light bulbs in both. Hooked up to one light switch. With a neutral wire. I now have a hub as well. And want to do away with the, pull chains. What do you recommend?

Same boat, I’m thinking smart switch for the fan, smart bulbs for the lights??? Will that work ?
@mknightstalkerx3 жыл бұрын
@@veronicallamas9333 I was told no. Both fan's need to be on ita own switch.

With IOT everywhere, this should be standard installation.

If you have to NOT turn off a light switch for your lights to remain 'smart' - then you don't actually have a smart home - only a dumb home. Similarly if visitors to you house (or family members) have no idea how to operate even basic lighting (on/off) in primary rooms then you cannot really call that a smart home either. Lots of ill conceived products around. Make sure basic functions (at least on/off) are completely intuitive for people who have never seen your house or its controls before. Pet peeve of mine - but think about it...

i have LEDValence Sylvania Wi-Fi smart bulbs change colors too. Works with Alexa and use them on a schedule for outdoor door lights. With mine turn off switch, turn on switch the bulbs come on, so they work independently of Wi-Fi control. Bulbs also do not lose configuration if power is off at the switch. I read some have to be reprogrammed if they are unplugged from power source, which is bad.

@@scottdowney4318I guess it works but its more confusing than intuitive. If I try a switch and it does nothing - I'll probably switch it back the way it was (but maybe not) - - if I do I'll be quite surprised that Then the lights come on... its an odd behavior! But it IS better than nothing at all happening for sure!

Sylvania ones I got work as you would expect with the switch, up they are on, down they are off and also work with wifi off and on, dim and color change. I do think it would be bad to flip on a switch and not have a bulb turn on like people expect. Works with android app. Amazon title; SYLVANIA Wifi LED Smart Light Bulb, 60W Equivalent Full Color and Tunable White A19, Dimmable, Compatible with Alexa and Google Home Only - 4 Pack (75674)@@alanmoore2197
