The topper for Gen 4 6’ bed has a few more steps and the light is tapped off the trailer 7 pin instead of the tail light and I also have to drill a 3/4”’hole in my bed post which I did not see coming. The roof is also a three piece system and not one. I have some violent words for the technical writer that added a top view of the installation followed up by bottom view the rest of the instructions. I put that roof together three times. Hope he or she joins the inventor of the Ford 5.4 L engine in the afterlife. But myself and my co workers really like it. The system used to secure the Cap is far better than previous versions. Very tight and secure.

The Gen3 Tacoma caps are going through production currently, with shipping just beginning to take place. Assuming you have a backorder placed, you'll want to stay in close contact with your dealer, as they will be notified by our distributor when your cap leaves our facility in Ft. Worth.

To get to the front of that line, you'll want to get a backorder placed with one of our dealers (www.na.rsismartcap.com/backorder). That way you will save your place in line for when they begin to roll out of production. It is quite likely that most, if not all of those caps coming out of production will be spoken for with backorders, and won't make it into inventory.

How do they have a portal window for the back light when this is clearly a midsize truck

If you go to the "Which Cap Fits You" page on our website, and scroll down to the bottom of the comparison list, there is an asterisk that reads, "*Available on all Full-Size truck applications, and on certain Mid-Size truck applications. Check specific application for more information. **Excluding Jeep Gladiator applications." This has been a rolling change for the caps made in North America, which for now would be the Gen3 Tacoma and Colorado/Canyon, with the Gen4 Tacoma coming soon.

@smartcap_official I don't see where it says that on your website... It still says, "For all full-size SmartCap applications, we've designed a portal window* that allows your truck's third brake light to illuminate the bed. Good thinking! *NOT available on mid-size applications".
