I have been a bicycling enthusiast since I was a small boy some 65 years ago. A recent knee injury and surgery adversely changed my life. My trusty Trek Hybrid is no longer a comfortable ride. My road and mountain bikes are off the table as well. A friend and local bike shop owner told me about Tern and how impressed he is the company and their bikes. I was not interested at that time. After a painful ride on the Trek the other day, I headed over to the bike shop. A few test rides later have me convinced. A good work out with pain free knees, and really fun. I am now certain the HSD S11 is my ticket back to healthy knees and enjoying bicycling once again. I will head to the shop right after Labor Day and purchase an S11. Great machine and a great company!

I thought this looked familiar! I was in Annecy about 30 years ago. Some of the best restaurants in France are in that region. And the lake is absolutely beautiful.

Great bicycle by all means! Though not that many of us are able to take our bikes with us to our place of work. For starters not everyone works in an office. When thinking about security of our bicycles and a possible theft tern HSD/GSD or any other expensive bicycle out there seem to only work for middle class or for people work from home. I am thinking of purchasing tern and booked a ticket and a hotel to travel to a different city to try these bicycles out. But as a magnet for thieves makes me the future owner of tern very concerned. How can I leave it outside of work for nine hours? 3 locks, gps device from PowUnity, good insurance is the very least of things to have in place. May need to find an office job 😅 Replacing a car isn’t as straightforward as one may think.

Wow. I just bought an NBD S5i literally yesterday and sold off my Hsd s8i. These new security features are nice. Are the older models able to get the security features added on?

Hi SP! Unfortunately, the older HSDs are not upgradeable to the new Bosch Smart System.

Gen1 HSD owner here. Bit disappointed in the new version: No dual battery option, no 85nm Gen4 Bosch, no Megura dual piston brakes, no Rohloff option, no full-auto Automatiq option, no Kindernay hub in USA - it just feels like they are determined to de-feature it compared to the GSD. Why?? - some people only need 1 passenger, prefer a smaller, lighter bike rather than the heavy long-tail GSD - but want the same options/ extras. Some bad niche marketing decisions were made here. Upgrade the options/ choices please Tern!
