It is not ultrasonic, it is evaporative, as defined by what you described very well. It is a completely different process, and the noise only comes from the acoustic properties of the water, which differs based on the speed you set the fan to. It’s apparently much cleaner air that is output as compared to an ultrasonic. I’m seeing decent reviews for this thing, it seems great.

Hi, yes, if the room size is within the limitations this humidifier can create humidity greater than 60%, however generally 40% to 50% is the recommended humidity indoors.
