One of the best pieces of advice i ever received was to never do something for others expecting something in return. I buy people coffee or pay for their meal ocassionally. No catch. I have a budget line specifically for giving and celebrating others so i do it with money intended for that purpose. If people want to get me back they can, but its up to them. I dont harbour any ill will if they dont treat me back.

Can he make “mixology and money” videos, where he shows how to make the drinks, talks about the cost, and maybe even has a money guest to make the drink with him, while discussing other big money topics? Maybe have it start as a SMHP bonus show/segment/mini-sode, then give it its own YT shorts, and see how things go? There is something mesmerizing about watching someone make something and it could be an interesting way to talk about money, maybe even use drinks to illustrate financial concepts in fun ways. My ick is people who are so insecure, they think everyone is trying to take advantage of them, so they become the ultimate penny pincher. I planned a nice day out with a sibling one afternoon. At one of the venues, the card machine was down, and they only took cash. So I paid for the both of us. We were going to lunch next, so I said they could just pick up lunch, and we're even. They insisted on driving around to look for an ATM (this was before we used Venmo and PayPal). They pulled out the exact amount they owed me and paid ATM fees in the process. They were SO worried that I was going to take advantage and order a single cent more than the amount they owed. So bizarre. (And this sibling and I were evenly matched at the time, financially speaking, so money was never an issue between us. We lived together at the time as well).

TBH I think the one who came up with the "overactive Venmo" ick is also the type who go out with people, order way more than everyone else, demands they split the checklist, and then acts like those that refuse are broke b/c they won't cover part of their meal. Sure in theory it may "wash out" but we all know there's one person who more often covers it for the table and/or one who doesn't have their wallet so it never really evens out. Also 100% of the time the one who calls asking people to cover their share an "ick" and the one who conveniently doesn't have their wallet is the same person.
