As we've just passed the 20 year anniversary of the release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, we thought to take a look back on the entire Harry Potter film series, which quickly became a worldwide phenomenon, and was once the biggest franchise the world had seen. There was such hype and excitement around both the books and movies which would reflect a positive reception to the adaptations. But as years have passed, it seems that the fandom has become disenfranchised with the films, and loves to poke holes in what was once, a beloved film series. Having grown up and witnessed first hand both the book and film excitement, it calls into question whether I am looking at the films purely through nostalgia goggles of enjoying them as a child or whether we have gotten too critical of an adaptation that was groundbreaking for it's time.
