This was such an informative video! John did a great job clearly explaining how to use expressions in ArcGIS to combine different attributes into new virtual fields. The step-by-step instructions were easy to follow and the visual examples really helped demonstrate the power of this technique. I loved seeing how manipulating the data allowed John to create more meaningful visualizations that better communicated the information. The side-by-side maps comparing total population versus percentage 85+ were a nice touch. Videos like this that teach useful GIS skills in an engaging, straightforward manner are so valuable. Wow.. i was literally doing a map regarding senior citizen / total population and calculated the expressions in excel.. this just gave me a whole new insight on how i could use the pre existing dataset. Thanks for the video John!

Great video Mr. Nelson!! I've been shying away from using Arcade in Pro. I usually just stick to Python when its an option. Any chance you could make some more tips and tricks for using Arcade in Pro?

Thank you for actually making an "easy" arcade video that is actually easy. I have some rain total data that I would like a sum of over a specific time period. Could I use a time or date filter option on the field created in the expression or is that something that needs to be written as part of the arcade expression?

thanks Ryan! it's only easy because i can't code and so my examples can only be simple ones. you can write an expression and then filter based on it. you can also write an expression as a filter.
