the tentacle roller to make columns is brilliant, stealing that for sure

Be prepared for a frustrating experience, you need to keep the two plates absolutely parallel or you'll get a diamond pattern. It took me about 7 attempts, and this one even has a slight diamond pattern on the bottom.

I wouldn’t call it genius, but I do like how it turned out! Thanks! 😄

I don't know how it would have looked with lights but your paint job is absolutely ace!

So cool. Maybe you could have made a wizards hat separately, and then glued it to the figure in a position that implies it's flying off due to the force of the spell.

Oh yeah! That would have looked great! Damn, it’s too late to steal your idea and send in the pictures for the competition 😅

This is amazing! I absolutely love the concept. The magic effect is great, even if it doesn't light up.

Thanks for the support J! I think the disappointment of the lights is soothed by how the OSL turned out. 😅

Great concept and minis! Too bad the lighting didn't work, but your paintjob saves it. Just a little tip: If you want instant bond with CA glue, without building a blob of baking soda, you can use water (I use baking soda dissolved in water) as accelerator. I usually moist one part and add the CA glue to the other, or put the two pieces together with the glue, and then add a drop of water. But if the watery part has a drop of water (which has volume) on it, it won't work, because the CA glue will instantly bond with the water not with the surface. Sorry, this became a bit long, but I wanted to be clear. :) I don't see people do this, but it works for me.

Oh wow! This is a great tip! I normally have an accelerator, but I ran out. Definitely going to try this!

Fiber optics don't really emit light from the outside, that's part of how they're designed to emit maximum light at the tip. If the tubes are the cheap plastic kind you can scuff them up with sand paper. The texture will catch and diffract light so they'll glow. The glass ones are harder, but you might be able to scuff them up a little too. In case you ever want to try this again.

Yeah I discovered that the hard way 😅 I did also think about sanding them, but I had already glued them in place. I was worried they might break off. I do have some leftover tubes, so maybe for another project!
