Rebecca English just buy a cheap notebook from Smiths.The 'actual' Smash books are £13, which is a bit steep IMHO.I have loads of craft stuff knocking around already for the scrapbooking bit.Just need to start filling it with memories now.

It's been around since the 70's we use to call them bulletin boards. Even before that old paperbags were tied together to make book pages put old movie passes etc my mom did that in the 40's/50's.my senior yr in the 80's we had a senior book we put all sorts of things in it just like this only difference back during all those times we never gave it a name.that is the only thing that is new besides marketing products.still really cool to see all the goodies & to know it hasn't went out of style!

Do you all still make Smashbooks? I can’t find them at Michaels or Walmart in store anymore, and it looks like your website now just redirects to Amazon. Haven’t seen/found any new designs since 2013 or 2014, and I miss new designs coming out. Hope these books are still around.

These books would be extra great if they were set up like the Arc notebooks sold by Staples! The pages can be removed and reinserted multiple times so that rearranging is a breeze.

I think this would be a great way to keep your photos and journal in it at the same time. It's a hardcover so that's better than a composition journal. It has a lot of cool pages that would make everything look a lot more interesting. As for the price it might be a little expensive but some stores have them discounted michaels always gives out a 40% coupon so that would be a good way to buy it. Just a couple of weeks ago I went to michaels and bought a smash book for just 5 bucks !!use coupons

@raphael your comment frustrates me. The whole thing with these books is the freedom to add a sticker you like just because you like it. Feeling like you have to contemplate every thing can be a lot of pressure for a beginner. And besides, it's a sped up video because who wants to watch the whole creative process in real time? I think if a product helps people be creative and be loose with their creativity they should enjoy it. And having a smash book has actually helped me w/ scrapbook ideas.

Have to agree with lots of other comments here. This idea is a good one but it has been around for ages. I remember doing them myself in my teen years, even with just magazine cut outs. Too bad these big companies charge way too much for a great idea. Leave it to most moms and some dads to get more creative, use their resources wisely and make a "smash" book on a better budget. ;)

Yeah maybe you can buy your own composition book but it sure won't have the pretty designed papers these Smash books have. I agree with someone who said that you can go buy a blank journal and then some pretty decorated paper but in the end you're going to end up paying the same or even more money to make your own. Just buy this product and stop complaining. I went and bought mine at Michael's the other night. Going to get started on it soon.

@DeviantCandy It's true that you can make these yourself with most any kind of notebook, composition book, even w/scrap papers and your BIA. But I think the product is really cool for those who don't want to make their own books. It's a neat idea - and the book and embellishments to match are really cool. With the way I gather ideas and save stuff, I already have some of my own smash books - and will probably invest in one of these, too, one of these days. ;-)

@behappy0281 We used to just use composition notebooks and you can get really nice art journals for it too. People should check out other videos, since some people do tutorials on frugal books and other ways to store ideas like that. There is so much out there now to personalize it. I honestly don't want to spend another $13 or more dollars because I filled theirs up so soon. Guess I'm old fashioned. I also like how people put the word "Program" into something so simple.

Honestly, you can just use any journal you find and cut out stuff you see that's inspirational. I put most of my stuff online, but if you want to spend that kind of money, go for it. I think it's another hype that'll end, or maybe it'll keep gullible crafters at their website. Still, this is not a new idea and people have been doing this for ages. Just an age old idea, that someone is trying to get money off of.

I am from UK and wondered what a smash book was and basically it is what we call a scapebook - it is a lovely idea, putting things in it you just like, like that piece of paper you love the pattern of or a ticket from a concert you have been to. It is lovely I think i might start one.

I have one of these, but I'm not too fond of the actual book itself - with every turn of a page it makes this horrible creaking noise because it's so stiff and I'm not too fond of the cover colour. The pages are absolutely beautiful, though, so I just tear them out and use them in my other scrapbook. (:

@behappy0281 Exactly, this is just something they are hoping to make a quick buck off of, by targeting crafter's who don't normally shop like that. Really, we did these in highschool. Scrapbooking has a horrible way of turning something simple into an expensive fad.

These books are amazing! The perfect thing for those of us who don't want to go to the craft store and spend the same $12.99 that the books cost getting only 6 pieces of fancy paper to make our own. I was skeptical at first but then I got one and watched the video. These are the best!

I've been doing this kind of thing for years. Before we were born they were called scrap books.) There are several yahoo groups that do this kind of thing without haveing to buy a special book. The first sample in this vid is a comp book. I'm in a yahoo group called "Glue Books"

I have the Smash date stamp and use it at school. People may think it's funny that I take out my inkpad and date stamp every time i get a new assignment, but I think it's so cool and fun.

It's a good idea.. You can do it with any notebook, of course. But this Smashbook has special strong pages, not normal paper. And it looks very pretty, I like it. :)

Journaling and keeping a notebook of “stuff”, is something lots of us are already doing. The Smash program really makes it easy and fun, and provides creative inspiration in the printed pages, and fun easy embellishments. The glue/pen combo is not something readily available out there now, and it fits perfectly in the book, which really makes it convenient

It's a kind of scrapbook. A normal scrapbook is much more organized, clean, stylish, & creative. While a smash book is random, has no rules, & is messy in a good way.
