Smash Bros Lawl Beatdown Character Moveset- Gary Oak

Now this is one pleasant surprise for the end of 2018! I didn't expect Gary Oak to be a fighter, but this video makes him blend well with the rest of Beatdown's fighters. I do like how the set is based more off of his personality with his fan base and convertible aiding him at all costs, plus how his Pokémon show up for regular attacks rather than simply fighting for him. Gary fits in the roster very well, with his ego clashing against Matt's, and I can see the mystery fighters that may come later will be equally as rewarding as this one.

While I theorized that one of the mystery character hinted at in that one "Universes" folder from the earlier movesets was gonna be from the Pokémon Anime, I expected either Ash Ketchum or Team Rocket, but Gary is such a fitting and fun character! And most importantly, I did not expect him now! The moveset is exactly what I wanted from a Pokemon Anime rep, with the Pokemon taking a back seat and instead being more based on the things they do without them. The moveset really incorporated Gary's cockiness by making him a fighter who seems to want to make the fight as hype as possible, which special shoutouts to the Down B's very interesting property. And that Ultimate-like Final Smash was really well animated too, totally capturing the animation style of the Pokemon anime and even having the, as Sakurai called it, "Dramatic Slow Mo" effect with Umbreon at the end. Overall a fantastic surprise character and the best way of capping off this year. Great job!

Nice Moveset as always, Chad. While I've never watched the Pokemon anime (I've seen 1 or 2 episodes), I've heard Gary is quite a jerk, and this seems to translate well. The idea of him setting opponents up is a cool idea, and it was executed well. Like you did with Tord and his firearms (nice A moves by the way), I like that not all of his moves were Pokemon based but one (and what would you do for that anyway, so it makes since.) I like the cool slo mo with the final smash, he had good alts, & his stage is reminiscent of Diglett's stage in Lawl Meta (Kirb Star's). I see that E is a fighter, so I guess it's either Mark's echo or the other mystery fighter. Good Moveset, and Happy Holidays!

Welp I didn’t expect this! While I haven’t watched the Pokémon anime in years I definitely had fun times watching the first two seasons of the show, and this moveset captures Gary perfectly. This is probably one of the best movesets you’ve ever made. Just watch as the second surprise character be Ash Ketchum. (Haha jk)

Idk why this took so long for me to say, but just, thank you so much, Shad. Not only was this an outstanding way to cap the year off, but with so many clever ideas like translating Gary's cocky, on top personality into a stellar playstyle, utilizing all of the pokemon he's had over the years as normals (plus for a stellar Final Smash, seeing Electivire made me gush so much), and unique moves that capture moments that defined him (such as his tendency to kiss Pokeballs, like , I didn't realize how often that happened in the show, lol), you perfectly represented a character that fits the spirit of Lawl so well! I'm oh so proud of you, dude. By sticking wholeheartedly with your schedule, you were able to give us a beyond superb year for Beatdown. Hope you can be the best that you can be, as one of the top Lawlers in this whole new year of Lawl!

The Blue Meanie Leader (Yellow Submarine rep) Entrance- WE MEANIES ONLY TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER! The Leader of The Meanies is a heavyweight, set on both pressure and offense. His moves don't have the best framerates (Stompers start on frame 5), but they do quite a lot of damage. Down B- Butterfly Stompers The Leader summons one of these troops, which, if in Mid-air, spikes the opponent. On ground, it simply grounds them. They stay in the ground for 10 seconds for each stomp. Max one on stage Up B- Blue Hand Press B again to shoot a bullet from the tip. It's a traditional up special, but it can be used on land. It does not count as a vehicle, thus the convertable is not useful against it, but the damage needed to break it is lowered. If broken, it takes 15 seconds to respawn Side B- Bubble Similar to the one used to capture Sgt.Peppers band, this move keeps them in place. It lasts longer the more damage is done, and is button mashable for the earlier stages of it F.S: The Army This move requires you to click a button. What one summons a new troop B- Apple Bonkers, stun opponents with the apples A- Butterfly Stompers, same as the special but there's 2 X- Apple Bonkers. You can only drop the Apple in front of you, but it deals 20 Damage and stuns Watch the movie for any changes in the moveset, because I don't remember if the hand has bullets New Stages- Pepperland New Songs- Sea Of Time, Pepperland This is just a small idea, but it would be cool.

*Gary, Gary, he's our man, if he can't do it, GREAT!!!* Anyway, Gary Motherfucking Oak. I never thought i'd ever see him in Lawl (and before Ash, as per usual), but really, that's mostly due to how unexpected he is, because he's certainly got the skills to be a top Lawler, and this moveset proved it, nailing his personality to a T, and delivering a stand-out, competitive gameplay, in a way that you'd also hate to be his opponent. Then again, don't we always? :p Also, love what you did with the FS, it's very cinematic and fluid. Overall the quality is shining more and more with each moveset, and this was quite the treat to start this new year. Kudos.

Finally, a Pokémon anime character in Lawl. Surprised it took so long but whatever. The moveset itself is great. It makes sense for him to bully you around. Such as with him summoning fans, driving his car, and kissing his Pokéballs. Love how he doesn’t exclusively rely on Pokémon, instead being his normals. The visuals were great and overall, it was a fantastic moveset to end the year. Also, absolutely love how you added E to the roster lol

oh boy, shad is back, This unexpected moveset was really nice. I like you used Gary's most notable traits, and his pokemon are used as standard attacks. The fan club is the most impressive move, considering how all you had to work with that the fans constantly followed him and cheered him on. The convertible is also a neat concept, overpowering vehicles and moving his fans. The up special is executed well, but is similar to most Up B's, so nothing to point out here. Except "E". What sources are you even going to use for that moveset, cause I'm generally intrigued. Wait, it's an echo isn't it? Ah well. The Poke Kiss is my personal favorite, not because it has a new, interesting concept to fit the playstyle, but by god do I love cancelling moves. The final smash is weird: aesthetics aside, it's just a combo. Is it to reflect the changes in Ultimate? Or could you not find anything else to use (or at least something that would work better). I only have one nitpick: What happened to pointing out the moves used (at least in the last part)? You did that in Tord's moveset, so what happened here? Anyways, this moveset was great and is very representative of Gary Oak in the anime. Can't wait for Assist Trophies starring Speedwagon.
