Chrom is a clone of all three main Fire Emblem characters. He has an Ike up-b, Roy neutral-b, and a Marth side-b. He’s just listed as a Roy echo because he’s the most similar to him.

If they make another Smash Tour, I think it would be better to have the characters walk on the board instead of the Mii’s. Make it kinda like Mario Party. The board goes in a loop, with little mini games & tricks all over it, & if 2 (or more) characters land on the same spot at the end of their turn they fight.

Sometimes these discussions make me upset. Specifically when they talk about how characters should have been changed. "Get rid of one of the most iconic items from the Metroid series and give her a boring counter instead". There is a very good reason why they don't change characters drastically between Smash games: Trying not to alienate people who play the character. Say you give Mario Cappy and replace the cape. You take away one of his tools and change his characters dynamic.

I find it ironic how Samus feels so floaty and sluggish to control as opposed to Zero Suit Samus, where she's so much more agile and flexible. It's like her Power Suit is holding her back from showing her full potential, when it's the oppsoite situation in the Metroid series. Now I understand that Smash doesn't stay true to canon, but man, I just wish Samus was portrayed more accurately.

Man you guys totally brushed over the Monster Dance section of the Bloody Tears remix. I would like to to point out that in the over 30 years of Castlevania, I don't think there has _ever_ been an official remix of that song, despite it being just as prominent as Bloody Tears in that game. Even somewhat obscure songs like Riddle have gotten remixes before it did. It is hella underrated.

I think what defines an echo is whether or not they have original moves. While Chrom's moveset isn't the same as Roy's the rest of his moves comes form others (Marth and Ike) while characters like Ganon and Dr Mario do take moves from other characters but the other moves (like Ganon's sword) are completely made for them

There's actually a large hint to the Spirits mode (blurred out mode) back in the first teaser trailer for Ultimate. Right when the Smash symbol begins to fade away, you can hear this sort of growling noise occur. It's very identical to the sound of spirits, like some sort of cry, listen for yourself and make the comparison. This would explain the dark and ominous tone of the trailer. This is definitely going to be a huge part of the game.

Samus’s Down B is her best option to mix her recovery. It isn’t meant for offensive use but a way to mixup landing or stalling off stage and saving your second jump.

I think the reason Dr Mario isn’t an Echo Fighter is because he has a move (the stomp arial) that he doesn’t borrow from anyone else, while characters like Dark Samus and Chrom borrow all of their moves from other characters

Actually, Chrom's up B isn't completely borrowed from Ike. He doesn't throw his sword up and instead he does an upward slash, and then jumps up. I think what separates Doc from echoes is that he has unique physics from mario, in addition, his normals all have different properties. (And he also has the tornado, and the DAir)

MrGamer I am a huge Dixie Kong fan. I feel like she should have joined Smash before King K Rool who has not been relevant to the DK series. Dixie has a fan base, has relevancy since she has been playable in 16 out of 19 DK games, was mentioned in Mario Odyssey, and she was part of the forbidden 7. However, I think she got deconfirmed if she did not show up in the King K. Rool reveal video. ALSO, I think it will be pathetic and sad to see her be an Echo fighter of Diddy since she has so many possibilities for a cool moveset. At this point, I prefer her not to be in Smash if she will only be a measly echo fighter. She could always be a assist trophy. However, we have not seen Diddy's pink costume. So...

TheKennethRyanShow I believe Dixie can be unique enough not to be a clone. As for the relevancy, well that clearly doesn’t matter. There’s plenty of characters who weren’t relevant for decades that got in Smash so I don’t understand the difference with K. Rool’s case. And people seem to forget he was around before Dixie even debuted. It all comes down to what character you always liked more. K. Rool has fan base too. If he wasn’t relevant, there wouldn’t be an outcry for him. That’s why he maid it. It’s just been Nintendo’s choice not to use him like they use to. Now that he’s in Smash it makes up for everything. But there’s still a place for Dixie to be in Smash as much as K. Rool.

As a Samus main, I honestly hadn't even thought of the changes you guys have suggested, although I do have the unpopular opinion of liking Other M for the most part, especially how the Power Suit was displayed. I like the melee combat in Other M because I feel it really showed the capabilities of the Power Suit. In all the other games, close quarters combat resulted in the player spamming "Shoot" while taking copious amounts damage. I really wish they would have included more of the wrestling-esque melee combat from Other M or Samus Returns. You're telling me that this weaponized super suit capable of adapting to technology and biological creatures and it can't throw a decent punch? I still hope there will be melee combat mechanics in Metroid Prime 4.

If Dixie Kong does become an echo character of Diddy and her recovery is her "ponytail helicopter," that means her recovery would be basically what Donkey Kong's is. This would be the same exact situation as Chrom. So as I keep thinking about it, Dixie might have even more of a chance than I originally thought. Plus, if the same exact situation occurs than with Ridley then Dark Samus, we have K. Rool so maybe Dixie's next...

Dr Mario is slower, heavier, and hits harder. On top of having a different special and aerial. Chrom has more or less all of the same attributes as Roy but with a custom blade dance and Ike-like recovery. The former is the most deciding factor for an echo fighter. It’s the reason Pichu could never be an echo to Pikachu. Its too small and light

You got an important thing wrong in your analysis of the Castlevania part of the direct. When you see Richter and Simon together on the screen while Sakurai is talking about Dracula they actually aren´t an the "Draculafight stage" but on the actual Castlevaniastage. In the Castlevaniastage there is a coffin in the background and in the "Draculafight stage" there´s a throne in the background. This whole scene is just clever editing. So we really see only one fighter fighting Dracula or Rathalos at any time in the direct.

Though I still think characters like Rex, Homura, Nia from Xenoblade 2, Sora from Kingdom Hearts, Geno from Mario RPG, or some other Final Fantasy character like Terra from 6 or the Dark Knight from 4 (maybe a choccobo, moogle or cactuar as a joke character?) have more chances for a final reveal if they're going to do one more JRPG character. But I really want KOS-MOS, even if it's DLC. I barely finished the first game she's in, but I played a lot of others that she appears (SRT OG Saga comes to mind) and I freaking love her design. I think she would look pretty cool as a playable charater with her weapon and moves variations and she already has a Final Smash with X-Buster. I would still be happy with an assist trophy, but come on...

Square is the main force keeping out, not Nintendo or Sakurai, and they've already vetoed his inclusion in Melee, Brawl, and potentially Smash 4, (Sakurai said that the Mii Costume was a compromise so they could've allowed any appearances that weren't as a playable fighter that time) There have been no actual or implied hints that he's coming Unlike Ridley, K Rool and Chrom Sakurai can't add Geno no matter how much he wants to without Square I hope the fans get what they want,

Captain Coolguy They have, A SH*T TON, you just have not been looking hard enough/in the right places for the past 10 years mate. (check Twitter) It's just downplayed or rarely mentioned because... 1. They never heard/played the game. (which is stupid cause it was the best selling Game Boy Advance RPG ever) 2. They just want "THEIR" useless/irrelevant character to be playable. 3. The "popular" ones gets circlejerked around with popular KZbinrs and the sheep follow them. (which is just sad and needs to stop) 4. They say/claim that the series is dead (when it's not) it is FAR from dead. Doctor Mario is Slower than Mario and has different properties for all of his moves. All the Echo Fighters are the same speed as the original and most of there moves are the same. The only real exception is Lucina's lack of a tipper, but asside from that she's identical to Marth.

Almond Joy That just makes him like Lucina. He's probably the same height, has the same frame data, and same run speed. He's still mostly the same. Whereas Doctor Mario only has superficial similarities.

Marche800 True. Even though Chrom is close to being a semi clone, Doc is slower, stronger, and have largely differently properties in many of his attacks.I'm not sure Chrom have those...yet,at least. He's still the most unique Echo this far,though and is one future Echoes should emulate.

Almond Joy He still shares a moveset, and likely physics, and run speed with Roy. His only different move is his up B (which is slightly different from Ike's). And judging by his sword trail, his sword is balanced out like Lucina's. ...so basically, yeah, it seems like he's the echo most different from his spurce character, but Doc is more different from Mario than Chrom is from Roy.

I'm gonna state a very unpopular opinion: updating a character's moveset to something more modern doesn't necessarily make them a more interesting character. You have to consider the people who've played characters like Mario, Link, Samus, Ganondorf, etc., for years and have gotten used to those movesets. Sakurai doesn't have to make a moveset 100% accurate as he's given creative liberties to create a character that would make sense in his mind. If Aonuma had a problem with how Ganondorf was portrayed in Smash, his moveset would've been changed since Brawl. I understand being disappointed about Samus not having aeon abilities or Mario not using Cappy in his moveset, but you have to consider Ultimate started development in 2015-2016, before Odyssey and Samus Returns were shaping to be complete. You should be grateful Breath of the Wild and Odyssey got any love at all. Also I find it extremely hypocritical to say that a character isn't accurate enough to the games they come from, but suddenly when Link has his hookshot removed because he's based off of BotW, a game with no hookshot, that's seen as a dumb change. You can't say they should bet more accurate, but when they do become more accurate, you're complaining. Plus going back to Mario, he's an all-around type of character, so he kind of needs stuff like the cape to reflect projectiles and a move like FLUDD to mess with recoveries, not to mention a decent combo game. Canon doesn't matter when a game like Smash isn't canon, which was why the whole size debate around Ridley used to be such a hot button topic. You can't say you support Ridley because Smash's canon doesn't matter but say Ganondorf being similar to Captain Falcon is lazy and stupid. Just my two cents.

I would like to note that the September general Nintendo Direct is probable to happen again this year (we've had one for 3 years running, and it just works every time), and will probably at least contain a quick recap on Smash, but could also have additional new Smash news - and it wouldn't be too close to this Direct because the September Direct can happen towards the end of September and we're only just near the start of August now.

Im still thinking about that blurred out mode. like look at. the simon belmont reveal when they first show off Dracula. when he walks up to him the stage he fighting him on is flat it cant be the actual stage because it has platform and stairs & it cant be an omega version of the stage because hazards dont show up on omega stages or like the rathalos reveal “he appears as a boss” a boss in what? it has to be a specific stage to fight a boss so i mean it has to be a story/adventure mode type thing.

I Think the reason you can stack echo characters is because when they are displayed separately when all of them are unlocked, the character select screen isn't a perfect rectangle. The echoes make an extra line start without being as long as the others. Stacking them removes the extra half line and makes a perfect rectangle for those with OCD like myself
