One of the my favorite shows ever. Steven Spielberg's original idea was to come up with a different musical every season, and if the musical was appealing to viewers, he would bring the musical to Broadway. I wish this would happen, I'd totally go see Bombshell. This was a fantastic show with the best new talent in the business :)

Have you even watched Smash? It's about BROADWAY. It's a completely different setting than glee. It did not "coppie" Glee. And who gives a crap about how many awards it gets?! I love Smash and I don't care if Glee gets more awards.

Comparing this show to Glee is like comparing "Gone With the Wind" to "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes". SMASH is one of the truly great shows produced in the last several years; it is the show that Glee wishes it was. Incredible cast with the gravitas of Debra Messing, Anjelica Huston and Jack Davenport combined with the new blood of Megan Hilty and Katharine McPhee - it's really magical. Can't wait to see where the show goes in season two.

I stumbled across this show by accident and continued watching from that point forward. Primarily because 1) I’ve liked Jack Davenport ever since I saw him in Coupling in the early 2000’s, and 2) Debra Messing, of course. 👍

Jane Ives NBC does this all the time it was the same with the show Timeless ( which is an amazing show its on HULU in the US and Netflix in many countries! We only got two seasons but NBC put us in a shitty timeslot and gave us no promotion we (the fans had to do it all by ourselves we even raised enough money this year to have a helicopter fly over the San Diego Comic Con with a banner that says #savetimeless 👍👍 i highly recommend watching it we are getting a movie in December but if it does well enough Sony will try to offer it to streaming platforms!

"Being in the chorus is like being no body." Well, Ivy. As much as I love you. I completely disagree with that statement. Some of the most amazing, enjoyable experiences in my life have been spent in the chorus of musicals. It's the most rewarding, most amazing role to have in a production in my experience. Without the chorus, the shows doesn't properly work, and the life and soul of the musical is lost. I actually prefer being in the chorus. It's so much more fun, and I LOVE IT.

I'm watching "Smash" on Amazon Prime right now, and it reminds me of just how great a show it was ... it's beyond comprehension that this Gem of a TV Show wasn't picked up ... maybe "Smash" was just too good for broadcasting as a TV show & shoulda been a movie instead ...

Jenna, thanks for the response, but I would have to respectfully disagree. Don't misunderstand, I like Glee, too, but I am simply making the point that "Glee" is like recess and "Smash" is like AP Calculus. Both are necessary, but one is just much lighter than the other. Smash is much deeper and, I believe, appeals to a more mature audience. I reread my original comment and I believe my wording regarding "Glee" was a little harsh.

Yes this is also one of my favorite shows ever. Growing up, I loved musicals, so glad they came up with a grown up version of Glee. Love, Love, Love Smash!!!! I can surely see Bombshell going to Broadway.

This Glee for adults and is wonderful, as a producer/director I can tell you it is (with dramatic licence) quite faithful to the trials and tribulations of putting on a show be it Broadway or London.

To everyone making GLEE comparisons. These shows are nothing alike. I Do like both shows, but unlike Glee, at least they don't randomly burst into song and dance, with everyone knowing all the lyrics, moves, and when their cue is to join in. Smash is about the Theatre! and it is fabulous.
