One thing I like about this is how you can see the different approaches they are both taking to Marilyn. Karen is clearly going for girl next door with dreams of stardom and Ivy is going for glamorous go-getter who won’t let anything get in her way. They are both valid takes and it’s just interesting seeing it reflected in their outfits and acting.

this sequence made me fall in love with the show all the more. at the end when they all start gathering in the room I found myself leaping for joy. i was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited for it. too bad it only ran for 2 seasons. LOVE this show!

Steven Spielberg is back producing it with Mark Shaiman and Scott Wittman returning as composers and lyricsts, Jersey Boys' book writer Rick Ellis will write the book and since early January, they already began a six week workshop with Susan Stroman (just search her theater credit, she has done LOADS) as the director. It's planning for a 2024-2025 Broadway season so i assumed that they're near completion for it's workshop just in time for next year's opening

Yeah, if the roles were switched and Katherine was the one with experience and Megan had to break in then it woulda made more sense. It would have been very obvious why they wanted Megan and felt more appropriately unfair if they didn't pick her

This was around the time when The Black Swan was all the rage and made waves. Then, I think other movies adapted the concept such as Frozen. I think this show tried to adapt that as well and it had a lot of promise. It's a shame and very unfortunate that this one did not take off due to poor decision making.

You have to keep in mind that Megan is a true Broadway star, whereas Katherine is just a star from a reality TV show with no formal training, so of course Megan's voice is going to be superior to Katherine's. With that said, they both still did a remarkable job with this song.
