Everyone has only gotten better since then, but Leo's played other characters too, while Gluto's stuck with Wario the whole time. For any other top player... does results are really good! For Leo (and let's say the rest of top 10) it's a far step back... and a real far step back from what Leo used to be. The Wario/waft hate is so god damn funny XD Every character has a gimmick that everyone hates. When this character wins, then people lash onto it. Cloud wins? Limit is cracked. Joker wins? Arsene's cracked. Sonic wins? His speed's cracked. Diddy wins? Banana peel's cracked, and so on... Figure the game out people. It's about how you use that gimmick. If one was predominant, we'd only see this character on top and no one else, but we're lucky enough to have a balanced game where the top 10 pro all main different characters. In conclusion, stop being salty fanboys/haters ^^

Funny that people are still complaining about waft. Yes it's damn strong, but saying that it is op because ''you play a 2 stock game'' is completely stupid. Imagine playing against any other character with a comeback mechanic or 0-death. Does that mean that u instantly lose against kazuya, luigi or terry because of their 0-death/comeback mechanics? Absolutely not, because they have to hit those combos/moves, which is uncertain. Waft is OP assuming you ALWAYS hit the combo, which is impossible. (Gluto did robb leo in that last game tho thats true LOL)

To be fair, Kazuya is still unoptimized by the people who play him, but the more optimized he becomes, the more players want to ban him. When players become more consistent with kill combos, they start to hit these kill moves at a more consistent rate and it essentially becomes a free stock when you win neutral once. Waft truly feels like that, and the fear factor it has is insane. Gluto hits his wafts like 95 percent of the time. Also, a big difference between Wario and those characters is that Wario is good without touch of death and Waft is so versatile at any percent. It's kind of frustrating to watch and play against, but that being said, it's not like Gluto didn't deserve the win or anything. But honestly, the worst thing about the mechanic is that it doesn't go away. It makes the game plan against Wario "outplay him so hard that the free stock doesn't matter." And frankly, that's frustrating.

Wario is balanced around waft so the character himself without waft isn’t powerful, Joker on the other hand has an extremely versatile toolkit and on top of that, has a broken comeback mechanic that shows up faster than waft and can be used to kill at the same percents but not only out of a hit, out of a grab too. There’s no competition.

Arsene is a core part of Joker's kit, hence why he has rebel's guard to activate him faster, particularly critical if Joker has a lead. The character is pretty clearly designed to use Arsene to secure kills, given that base Joker has to depend entirely on fair 1 confirms (or an edgeguard or raw smash attack, but literally any character can do that). Arsene shows up faster than waft because he is weaker than waft, idk how you think that's debatable at all, in what universe does Arsene "kill at the same percents"? You can literally use waft to land a 0-death true combo. Regularly killing people with Arsene at even, say, 15% like Leo was in this video is just not a thing, and there's absolutely no way you're doing that off of a grab. Killing with a dthrow combo (at maybe 80 at ledge) isn't even real if you DI away. You're welcome to think Joker is better than Wario, maybe he is, but most of your argument is just wrong. Personally, my comment came from a place of thinking Wario is extremely lame, not that he's strictly a better character.

I love how people complain about waft as it was something always available at anytime. Full waft can be used maybe two times in a game? Where so many other "broken" mechanics are there at any time. Wario doesn't have any O-death combos when for exemple luigi, kazuya etc... have. Stop complain, if waft was that broken, there would be tons of warios at top level. Reality is ? Gluto is the only one making wario viable at top level. Even Tweek dropped him, and there's maybe one obscur wario in japan hiding. Gluto said that if you want to be good with wario, you need to know absolutely everything about the matchup. Because a lot of combos will not work for certain characters. Some will have more pushback, different hitbox where it just doesn't connect. Gluto is just a beast who worked his ass off to perform at the highest level. Period.

That was the set and the interesting part about Wario because he forces a different type of approach with him turning into a ticking timebomb that needs to be avoided or stopped from exploding. Leo failed to stop Gluto from wafting him and it's like the 5th time now that he's failed to do that. Avoiding waft is part of the matchup just like avoiding Jiggs in Melee from resting you. Nobody complained about Wario until their favorite player lost.

I much rather watch Piranha Plant, Wario or Diddy Kong than Lucina, Roy or Aegis who all play the same rushdown spacing way with little to zero differences but damage output and one generic special move.

The first few times I just saw it as a fluke or a bad luck streak. Now it’s undeniable. Leo needs a change. I believe he is still the best player in the world, he just needs to get over this weird hurdle that’s been plaguing him for the past few months.

I don't think Leo is the best anymore. Like every time i see him lose he just takes it and leaves unlike others who show that they frustrated about a loss. He just seems so out of it and kind of glad that he's not number 1 anymore tbh. Sparg0 surpassed him big time but maybe Leo will bounce back next year.

Mkleo is at that same stage as Spargo. Just look at the last interaction of the last game. He outplayed the heck out Gluto, choosing the perfect times for every option just to mess up the roll spacing(I do that too lol)and die to cheese. He’s at the stage where he really still has the potential but would actually have to change everything to CONSISTENTLY follow through instead of getting the wins sometimes. In the end, fighting games aren’t exactly a puzzle to be solved. fighting people in the same tier as you means some wins and some losses.

What you don’t see is that he basically didn’t do it the entire game and waited for the perfect moment for a committal(gluto could kill him off a blocked or accidentally spaced wrong one)Nair and push that strength. It wouldn’t have worked if he did it elsewhere. The rest where mostly within a combo. And the last basically a tech chase. Also, it’s wario who doesn’t have disjoints. Of course he did. He does the same against Fox because it’s the smart thing to do

Waft should not stay between stocks. Every other character in the game that has a comeback factor loses that comeback factor if they lose the stock. Terry loses his GO, Joker loses Arsen, and Kazuya loses his rage drive. Why does Wario not lose waft if his stock gets taken? Seems unfair and inconsistent especially since waft can kill at pretty much any percent. Frustrating to see Leo go out like this because Sakurai can’t balance the game properly

The difference is that waft takes significantly longer to charge and that it’s execution relies on hard reads or precise combos Not to mention it’s built around wario’s toolkit instead of being a gimmick

Alright maybe not as fast as Joker Arsen, but I feel like if waft charged a little faster and had to recharge in between stocks it would definitely be more fair. I also think it’s kill power needs reduced. Even with how slow it charges it’s pretty much like your opponent is always only playing with two stocks because you can just true combo into a waft at 0% and get the KO.
