I am in love with rivals 2. Such a good mix of melee and ultimate but with the aether touch. Also the promises from the devs about free dlc is great. Man did not spend enough time with each character. Forsburn has an explosion when you have absorbed smoke. Maypuls down b is just a little assistant tool that does a few things, also pressing A+B after hitting them with a seed or side B tethers to the opponent

I can see how certain aspects of gameplay could feel slightly clunkier. It feels to me like there's more landing lag on most attacks. Gaining control of my character after getting hit in some interactions feels clunky sometimes. Likely just my controller being old but idk.

"find the simplest character in the game" thats just mission impossible, every character has at least 2 unique gimmicks and so many combo extenders (thats why i love it) you can easly use a character like Zett or Clairen but a GOOD Zett or Clairen main is just going to 3 stock you like nothing. also, why do you say the movement of Ultimate is less "clunky"? bro, its the smoothest plataform fighter ive played in my life fr p.d. love to see you back, hope we see more Rivals 2 content

Ah, I see you went with Clairen. She's "simple" alright, but unlike Marth, her tipper mechanic allows her to go for some sick combo during low/medium % on the opponent. If you wanted something much more familiar, Zetterburn is the closest to a spacies from Melee. His gimmick being that smash attacks and some other moves are more potent if your opponent is on fire.

You don't necessarily have to use everything in the kit to do play a character, but overtime you will explore the options your character has and use em to your playstyle. Otherwise, each character gotta keep in mind what they want to accomplish.

I love ROA 1, and learning the characters was super fun cause they each had a unique play style. Them being a gimmicky makes the game stand out more in my opinion.

I don't mind having to learn the gimmicks, it's just the movement is not as smooth as I was expecting. I was disappointed in Ultimate's feel when switching from Smash 4, so this isn't a big improvement for me. Hoping the devs are willing to make adjustments to the mechanics.
