This year I'm reading very slow idk why but recently, read the song of Achilles unfortunately i didn't enjoy it that much i have read circe and for me it was better than this , no offence the characters could have talk and build connection more . P.S. - my favourites this year so far Jane Eyre Tess of the d'urbervilles Anxious people

Some great selections there, and while I did enjoy SoA, I do agree I liked Circe better as well

I love Claire Keegan! Small Things Like These was wonderful and Foster was excellent as well. She really is a master at conveying so much in few words and her writing is gorgeous. I need to get around to her other books soon.

I'm so glad I discovered your youtube channel. Thanks to your previous references to Agatha Christie's books. My favorite books this year so far are North and South and Pride and Prejudice. A miss was How to stop time by Matt Haig. Also another miss, Second best by David Foenkinos.🤷♀️ I expected more from both writers. Thank you and keep up the great work! 🥰

Soon I will read The Lost BookShop.😊 Hope will not be a let-down though. Also Claire Keegan sounds amazing. I just found in my phone a pdf file with her book: Small things like these. It really is a surprise. Jon Fosse is on my tbr list now. Thank you! 🤗

I think my favourite book this year has to be What you are looking for is in the library by Michiko Aoyama or Tales from the cafe by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. Thanks for the Terry Pratchett Nation recommendation, I have read about 90% of the discworld series so will have to put it on my book list for this year.

Nation was a bit of a surprise for me, enjoyed it very much 😊

“I mean come on people. We’re trying to solve a murder here.” Ah Bart, I properly burst out laughing just then. I’m happy to see some Claire Keegan in here. I haven’t read Antarctica yet but it’s no secret that I’ve really loved the three books that I’ve read from her so far ☺️

Which one of Claire Keegan’s books would you recommend I read next?

@@cafeaulivre I’d say Foster. Small Things Like These is great too, but set around Christmas so maybe not the best for this time of year.

I agree with your thoughts on The Lost Bookshop, a bit of a disappointment. I have Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan on my want-to-read list. I think A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles is my favorite so far this year. Close second is Burial Rites by Hannah Kent.

Best book I’ve read so far this year? Legend by David Gemmell

I’ll have to look that one up, don’t really know it.

Favourite book In Memoriam by Alice Winn, I found to be shocking from a war perspective, dryly funny and deeply moving. It could be my book of the year. Worst book. Here comes the miracle by Annis Beecher

I’ll have to check that one out then, havn’t reallly heard of it yet
