Except that custom moves were more quantity over quality with no balance between them. Also how would custom moves work for returning characters, new characters, as well as smash 4’s dlc characters that never got them?

I feel like tripping in Brawl was added not as a main way to intentionally sabotage movement, but simply as a funny slapstick moment for a party game to have. The problem is that the Brawl developers heavily, HEAVILY underestimated how powerful the trip status is: halting the character's movement and leaving them wide open for over half a second is so unbelievably detrimental to have happen to you. Its effect is so unassuming, especially to a more casual audience, that the devs didn't think much of its effects, which results in many moves in the game given a trip chance, a random chance of tripping happening during ground movement, and Diddy Kong being given 2 Banana Peels. Brawl is the Smash game where the devs really started experimenting with new ideas for character designs and mechanics. A lot of said designs/mechanics would be pushed further and/or altered going in SSB4; it is quite clear that the devs realized how powerful tripping was by then, thus a lot of the tripping shenanigans from Brawl was removed in SSB4. Still, SSB4 is also a very experimental game in terms of character design, thus the devs still want to know how far they can push them. The end result of that is Timber Counter.

This. I don’t know why the dude is assuming that tripping was a way to counter Melee mechanics like wavedashing and such. To add onto that, Brawl definitely is a very experimental game, and for that, it sort of blows. Elemental advantages and stamina for the Pokemon Trainer, odd moves like Snake’s down smash, and just janky looking moves like the majority of Dedede’s.

Yo great video, but the audio keeps on cutting off. I don't know if it's a problem with the audio not matching up with the footage, but whenever you're at the end of some footage your audio cuts off and it sounds really strange. This has only started to be a problem in your latest videos, and never happened in your old ones.

oh see I did this exact setup pretty much on my own. but i put auto heal. so if you refused to engage him it'd just erase all your hard work so you'd be FORCED to engage him. but if you do you have this stupid cancer. and I had it w/ the push back loid and the exploding balloons and pretty good stats overall on it and it was disgusting
