We have been incredibly lucky to not only have a resort that is open, but the snow base is solid and we keep getting new snow. As the resort starts to fill in there are many areas that are open if you don't mind a bit of adventure. The couple months I've been hiking to snowboard in the mountains around Whistler, so I'm used to getting in a little over my head.
The first couple days I was using the Lib Tech T.Rice Pro 160W and it was a sturdy beast. With the snow continuing to thought it an opportune time to release the beast that is the Storm Chaser. Now, the only reason I say this: this board was most definitely not designed for early season technical riding. So it's my fault for using the wrong tool for the job more than anything else.
The two biggest disadvantages for this type of riding is the lack of curve on the nose and inability to ride switch, This terrain is full of obstacles and both the nose and tail catch on most everything that's out there. It's also a relatively stiff board and after two days riding it I destroyed the nose and was completely exhausting; riding this board was a workout.
Underground Tuning is the best place for repairs and tune-ups in the village and I definitely recommend you go check them out to get a fresh wax. The got my board for a couple days, and I have a Dupraz Mountain Workers. Come back for the next video where we hike to unopened part of Whistler Mountain and ride down after close!
Thanks for watching! Stay Safe Out There!
