This Samsung A71 5G (SM-A716U) came in for no power. After doing some visual inspection, I found the board was bent & there were broken components in that area.
Based on this, I decided that the motherboard was damaged beyond repair & it needed a CPU Transplant and UFS/eMMC Swap in order to recover the data.
This model is too new to support Chip Off Data Recovery because the data is encrypted by default.

Hey Jesse, I enjoy the videos. Just curious. Have you ever tried using a small amount of acetone to remove the underfill either on the board or the chip? I know acetone is a bit more aggressive of a solvent than isopropyl. But I wonder if it would break down the epoxy/polymer without damaging the pads if applied correctly. It might not be a good idea for the board since you might dissolve some plastics or silkscreening, but it might be safe for the fill that remains on the chip itself.

Great questions. I've never tried it before so who knows. Although i've never heard of anyone else using acetone for this, so maybe that's for a reason.

@@VCCBoardRepairs Maybe take the chip from the donor board and try with a few drops plus some low heat. You know, for science.😅 As long as the acetone doesn't break down whatever is between the pads on the chip face. Not sure if that material is masking or silicon. I would test right now but I don't have any acetone on hand.

Could I send you some images of my samsung board to get an opinion of whether its worth the attempt or if you have any other suggestions to recover the data. I had a very similar situation happen where the screen was damaged and originally thought it was the battery preventing it turning on but after swapping the motherboard with one on a new phone it didn't power up. I had backed my data up using the rule of 3 but all 3 were lost within a week.

Yes it's paired, and eMMC is encrypted So you can't do Chip Off

I have an s21 with a cracked cpu, The customer wants data. The cpu and the nand are paired and all hope is lost right? I was hoping I could just throw on another cpu .. I don't believe that would work though.

the Memory and the CPU are paired. you cannot just swap the memory. the device will not boot.

@@VCCBoardRepairs First u were nervous 😬 Second is the air direction from the nozzle Third add little tiny amount of flux after u remove the glue around the cpu , once starts bubbling that’s when u insert the blade very gently and go in circles to left it up Cleaning glue of the cpu there’s way easier methods than Ben bee method don’t just copy and paste Also for cleaning the glue on board to prepare it After reballing u don’t use 400 to solder back , it was all about ur air direction That type of cpu is easy as iPhone 7 baseband If it’s iPhone or double layer cpu , trust me u r fucked & don’t forget there’s people following u and if they tried exactly what u did they might don’t have same luck as u do , it will end up as a mess
