the parody of this relates to the "blood on the carpet" incident at radio 1 in 93 where the new controller got rid of all the old dj's that have been hanging around since the 70's .. and so spot on

Perfect pastiche of the late 80s/early 90s clear out of the faux matey mid-Atlantic accented past-it 60s has beens on radio 1 and the bitterness that followed. This was when radio 2 was still all 40s big band and 50s organ music so the 60s pop DJs didn’t have a natural follow on until the commercial ‘gold’ stations started popping up then radio 2 followed suit and modernised with a lot of the now stale 80s DJs (Steve wright etc) being shifted out of radio 1.

Good quality upload with stereo sound in it's complete form. This documentary highlighted all the problems with Radio 1, young people were turning away from it, and it all started to take on an old people's record club feel with old presenters.

I think it's recorded that Tony Blackburn liked this, but Enfield and Whitehouse regretted taking the mickey out of his on-air breakdown after his wife left him. They felt it was unnecessarily cruel and wished they hadn't done it.

Seeing Alan Freeman still doing Pick of the Pops over on Radio 1, changes at Radio 1 and 2 should have happened earlier as the mid 1980's, Do you think older DJ's interested in Europop or Soul to Soul or 2 unlimited, Radio 2 format was still stuck in the BBC Light Programme.of the 50's and 60's. These DJ's Should have moved over to Radio 2 at that point. This goes show how embarrssing this sketch was,

Yes this is the original VHS version, whereas the television edit lost quite a few gems. This version is rarely seen. Great stuff. Just magnificent

Yes its the VHS version with the extra scenes - sadly they couldn't clear the Beatles stuff for that so there's never really been a complete version
