I've not played this but it does look right up my alley. It was an arcade game originally which might go some way to explain why it's so mental. It's not really got much in common with Twisted Metal honestly, that's purely combat in an open environment. It was great at the time, especially with 2 players, but it's a hard one to revisit I reckon.

Smashing Drive was an arcade game that was ported to the Gamecube, GBA and Xbox. Twisted Metal is a pure car combat game in an open arena. You pick a vehicle, get dropped in a map with a bunch of other vehicles, and try to be the last vehicle standing. Various weapon and health pick-ups spawn at set points around the map, so you drive around, pick up the weapons and blast the hell out of everything that moves. The maps usually have some minor destructible elements and occasionally, teleporters.

This looks like a more complicated version of Chase HQ which is a good thing.
