Melissa was such an amazing addition to the band - incredible energy and performance. I loved this era! It felt like they were firing on all cylinders. Oh... and a side note - James Iha's voals on "Blew Away" have never sounded so strong!

Agreed. I often rewatch the band in this lineup. The energy was off the charts, and it was a great final curtain call. Melissa did her job and looked/sounded the part. Jimmy was back in tip-top shape and had a knock-on effect for all. Controversial to many, I would have been quite happy if this had been it for The Pumpkins.

What a gig - band was cooking - love the 12 string reinterpretation of "muzzle" - Billy's ability to rearrange tracks like this and "To Sheila" with different pedal tones and chord voicings really shows you what a great composer he is

Listening to this again now, I can really see why this era wasn’t for the casual Pumpkins fan. Machina is tough material to understand if you’re not a diehard fan. I thought people were just not smart enough to see how brilliant the band was, which was true sometimes and the band WAS in top form, but that form demanded a lot of the fan/listener. Extended versions of GATGC and BSBT especially, in 1999, I can see how a lot of people didnt have the patience for it all. The ones who stuck around for it all, paid attention and got the pay-off in the end, but shows like this on that tour were out there, really pushing what “SP music” really was…. In a time of super pop hits, I actually see how much courage Billy had to navigate the band into those waters. 👏 ☘️ 💜

@@thenewholistic This is very well said. I would say the shows of 1999 were a little easier to "swallow" compared to the later Machina tours.

@@garciansmith1460 yes, the '99 shows (Arising! Tour especially) were meat & potatoes SP, pure straight forward fan favs and new cuts

Mostly but there are some discrepancies. For example the second encore is With Every Light into Mayonaise (not broadcast). I'm speculating that the production company didn't want to finish on With Every Light so changed the encore order. Doubt as the SP community we'd fiddle with anything like this. @@Spaldz You're right! I didn't change the order of the original videos when I edited them together. Also, I still have my original tape from an MTV Brazil broadcast (not an upgrade, much worse quality than this), and the order was the same as video #1 minus a couple of songs. It ended with With Every Light > BWBW > Once In A Lifetime, so definitely not a fan decision.

I do know where the video came from. Whether the person has the whole thing i'm not sure but if they do we may eventually see more. I'll add it to our tracking list to follow up. Thanks for also pointing out it's not listed on SPLRA. That's an oversight on our part (It's only a really small team of us who keep the site up to date these days!) 😃

Ok as a fan. And dont get me wrong I am tired to hear underrated andSP IN THE SAME SENTENCE. It is SP Show. Billy sounds great like everybody that is on a stage. There are always turists on concerts This show is perfect. Repertuar performance of the songs...
