The lion version was for after school showing Monday through Friday schedule, and the car one was for the weekend showing on Saturday morning.

@@kw.5778 Not to mention, Lion Voltron aired first. Vehicle Voltron came second. But both shows are awesome in their own right.

Problems with syndication in the 1980’s, 65 Episodes were the industry standard for kids cartoons in the 80’s and for companies adapting anime at the time, there was a problem. The anime that were being adapted didn’t have enough episodes that hit the 65 episode standard. So the companies thought the best way to work around that, was to edit together completely unrelated anime into a single story or show. So World Events Productions adapted Golion into Lion Voltron, (the one everyone knows) but since Golion only had 52 episodes, they adapted Dairugger XV as Vehicle Voltron. There was almost a 3rd Voltron called Gladiator Voltron that was adapted from an anime called Albegas, but due to how unpopular Vehicle Voltron was, World Events Productions opted to just commission Toei to make new episodes of Lion Voltron.

In Chicago on WPWR TV, it was Vehicle Voltron and Robotech in the morning and Tranzor Z and Lion Voltron in the afternoon... the best of times! 💪💯
