I have found that I have started to prefer this newer music of theirs, of his. Like maybe the old music is for those old feelings, those old memories and this is for now. Its not better per se, but its amazing and it speaks to me, not the man or boy I was.

Violet Rays is amazing as is this whole album. The Pumpkins are one of, if not the best alternative rock bands of all time, and one of the biggest influences of a music generation. Corgan is a musical and lyrical genius and continues to show it. This song sends quivers up my spine. Heading to Boston tonight to see them for the second time this year, and gajillionth time in my life. Can't wait, they never let me down.

Faithless moors Pulling up your oars From rivers I have crossed In magic no heart's lost And I'll leave with anyone this night And I'll kiss anyone tonight Am I the only one you see? Raised from the path of revelry Spells fall frail Webs catching sail In eternal eternities Divine purpose catching free And I'll leave with anyone this night And I'll kiss anyone tonight Am I the only one you see? Seized from the wrath of revelry Am I the only one you see? Does love matter when loves the actor For what you are after is me Babe, don't leave me, please believe me 'Cause I'm so easy to know Am I the only one you see? Raised from the path of revelry Am I the only one you see?

Billy is a challenging artist. When Zwan came out, I remember thinking, "We went from Machina to this?" But I eventually saw the value of it. Same with the futureembrace. He makes you work but we're rewarded as music lovers. And this song gives me chills.

Does anyone remember the 90’s? For example the radio and the “top 9 at 9” type lists???? I vividly remember the top 9 at 9 in my local area playing songs like disarm, smells like teen spirit, Jeremy, No Rain, Zombie, Champagne supernova, Dookie…. AND SOOO MANY MORE. I want to cry I miss those days.

Does anyone else agree if this album had two classic artsy pumpkins music videos for Panopticon and The Celestials this would have had a lot more success in this day and age of music and the internet? I'm literally shocked this didn't become a massive hit album. I reckon maybe Billy lost a lot of his fans for being too outspoken and also the musical landscape in the mainstream has changed so much. But I'm surprised it' didn't find a new audience. if this album was released in the late 90s, or was released before zeitgeist it would have been more successful
@DarkRendarius
@DarkRendarius 6 жыл бұрын
I think its more the change in times and current musical trends.... And the major factor of his largest number of fans being unaware of the release.... due to family, work, and al the BS life has us dealing with, and prevents many from knowing, searching, or caring about their old music and love of it.... = ( Ive gone through periods like this myself, and I am a musician... Im SO DAMN glad I was doing whatever I needed to be doing to be aware of this album an Billy still writing and releasing music... But Im sure you are right too and he might have lost fans, but Id assume its a smaller number than those that are just lost in their lives and other commitments for their time, and focus.... ts kinda sad honestly... Life and what it entails for most....

it doesn't matter if they're sitting and not touring. If you saw his earlier interviews of 1993, he mentions that after Gish, he never anticipated nor did he count on touring rather that he'd find whatever path his music chooses. And even now that he is touring, he says it's almost dreadful; he mentioned it in a 2007 interview in "If All Goes Wrong". I've seen his interviews. I'm only replying to you because it kind of bothered me that you think I'm mindless even though you don't know who I am. This whole reply is almost pointless but as a human I have a right to speak my mind without hurting your feelings, nor you hurting my feelings. We both love the Smashing Pumpkins, we both appreciate Billy, and we both have our own opinions, brah.

It's good to see Billy's still in the game. Too bad he'll never again reach the heights of his 90's stardom, but this album compensates for all the crap he released after 2000 and restores my faith in him. I know it's not the Pumpkins I once loved, but let's face it, without the legendary name, nobody would care. And that would be a shame

You have to understand that there is something to appreciate in most music, whether simple and obscure, or imaginative and full of face-melting solos. I'd say take a listen to Nevermind all the way through - same producer as Siamese so you'll notice the same massive warm sound throughout -> listen to how Kurt's simple melodies stir up emotions within and how there is something beautiful about the pain and loneliness in his voice/lyrics. Seriously, try it.

There is a lot of music out there that take more than one listen to truly like it. I will definitely give this album a shot and not just shoot it down at first glance because it's not like their old stuff, I have a lot of faith in the band to continue to make good music. Here it is almost 20 years later and I still listen to Siamese Dream at least once a week!

This song touches that painfully hollow depth reached on crestfallen. Can't find adjectives. Can't tell if I'd rather listen to this or stick needles in my eyes, and its that exact painful ambivalence that Corgan has been delivering flawlessly for 20 plus years that makes me love this band in all its iterations.
