Wow , man your standards are really high . Can you give some examples of those drummers who you really do admire ? Genuine question . I'll be Sixteen in January. Play pretty basic guitar electro / acoustic and even basic -er keyboards (!) . I love every deluded minute of it . I believe getting to learn an imstrument , at the humblest of levels , can save thousands and thousands of dollars ( or in moi case British Pound notes ) on exorbitent psychotherapists . No jokes intended ( for once in my life , I'm actually almost being Sincere - what is that all about ) and you can pick up a cheap acoustic for 30 or 40 quid . I got an amazng Yamaha keyboard called a portable grand , full keyboard of piano notes . Actually its missing an octave at top ( Puh - leeze , like I care ) and I got for a ridiculous 15 quid - it cost more for the taxi home . This was more than the bargain of one of my precious lives . I dont know if the owner knew what he was doing , he just seemed to be glad to have more space (!) Or maybe it was a religious day of being nice to nervous over excited teens . I swear that beautiful keyboard sitting in front of it now with my magical ( no other over used word will do , in this particular example ) my magical ( OK ) Play Beatles , Eagles , Abba and Tom Petty ( pour example ) using just 4 chords ( pretty much ) They are like winning the Lottery , well thats what it felt like a moi . So saddos of the world ( including the twit at the Samsung keyboard ) unite you have nothing to lose but your nervous systems and core beliefs . Shee-it , goddam , I've gone waaaay of Topic . Point I was gonna try to make is that drummimg is very hard to even * fake * yr way thru . So that 19 yr old drummer is like a minor deity to me ( and well ...me , I guess ) Anyway love to you and yours Hi from London England ❤❤😂😂🎉❤

But jimmy is dead, d'arcy is pretty much a wasted junkie, and james iha is doing solo albums. I agree that this isn't the line-up I've known and loved but this is the first pumpkins sounding album I've heard in nearly a decade and I love it. Billy actually did invite all of the original members back, and even put an ad in the news paper. D'arcy is inot drugs now, if you haven't seen the mugshots, James won't even talk to Billy and didn't ever say goodbye after their last show. Not to mention that James and D'arcy couldn't play their instruments like Billyand Jimmy can, so producers asked him if he could do at LEAST 90% of the recording of everything besides drums. There's a good interview of Billy that Howard Stern did a month ago.

I think it has the acoustic feel of 'Disarm' from 'Siamese Dream', mixed with some of the more loud songs such as 'Quiet' and other various songs from 'Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness' album, but there seems to be a different stage of song compared to the old Smashing Pumpkins. But then again, only Billy is the original member, so you can expect a different style.
