Something I find interesting about Smaug, is that even though a lot of people are divided on the movie, almost everyone seems united that Smaug was the best part. I personally love the movie, and I think a lot of people can agree with me that Smaug is the best dragon ever put to film.

I agree completely! No matter what Peter Jackson has done wrong, when it comes to Smaug, he got him perfect in my opinion! And it just shows the incredible acting skills of Cumberbatch and the CGI skills of Weta. Smaug fans unite! XD

Here's how I feel about Smaug's death. He was the villain so of course he was gonna bite it before it was over. BUT he was an incredible villain and they could not have done his death scene better. THAT BEING SAID they screwed up by killing him in the first 20 minutes of the damn movie. If his death was at the end then I would have no complaints.

One adaptation I find odd is in the book and 1977 version, he's a traditional dragon, but in the 2012 version he's more of a wyvern (I hope I spelled that right), wonder why?

Peter Jackson believed that would help giving him that snake-like aspect since in Tolkien mithology dragons are basically armored, limbed, fire-breathing serpents... But the basic motivation was simply because it looked better and was more intimidating

First off: the song and video are awesome! Perfect fit for Smaug. As evil as he was tho, I can't help but wonder if he was that way in his younger days or if something happened to make him that way? I don't kno anything about the hobbit movies, I only know of Smaug because I've watched the clips of him. I am curious tho, if the right person could've gotten close to Smaug without pissn him off or being killed...could he have been turned from a terror to a protector? Could someone have gotten passed the cold and hardened outside to reach the heart that lay beneath those gold colored scales? As a writer of fanfics, this is how my brain works.

I would offer assistance installing irrigation systems at strategic points through the water system and stipulate irrigation times to purge pipes of bacteria. The end result would be alot of green lawns and lower chlorine in the drinking water. You do not seem to have a water shortage here, and in the event of a drought, you could return the chlorine levels and restrict watering.
