Your video is not only instructional it's presented in a well organized manner, which I believe is achievable only vía knowledge and experience. It's evident that you have both. I would definitely like to see the follow-up video, including the actual wiring and final fixture installation. Best regards

Looking forward to the wiring video, hoping it will have a ground. Every DIY Pipe light fixture video I've found doesn't explain how to add a ground to the fixture. So many commenters point out it needs one on every video out there... yet no one explains how to do it! Subscribed!

Painting galvanized ... Wash fitting with vinegar first, then lightly sand and then a special primer isn't needed (in my experience) ... Sometimes you can substitute a pvc bushing instead of galvanized or black pipe

I would say all he did was weld that earth point screw onto the flange (that you can see in the video, as that's not typically on a flange), then use wire nuts inside the electrical box and attach a ground wire to the fixture to prevent shock if one of the wires came loose and shorted against the metal fixture.

If you haven’t got pipe wrenches you can use liquid PTFE

I just followed these instructions but I found that the flange doesn’t fit. I have the 4” round junction box, and the flange screw holes do not line up with the junction box. Is there another size flange I should get instead?

Fyi I watched this guy who had bought galvanized fittings he used swimming muratic acid an the galvie boiled off in a couple minutes. Than he put the parts in baking soda water mix to neutralize the acid. Done deal.

Nice video. I built my own, but a plumb pipe billiard table light for my billiard table. It's larger and uses 1/2 in pipe and uses premade Half inch plumbing pipe goose-neck male to male 1/2 inch NPT thread to connect to my Plumbing Pipe To Light Fitting Coupler 1/2″NPT To 1/8 IPS. This allows me to connect my 120v E26 sockets. All the parts were available to me online from a company called Edison Light Globes. I'm now building some outdoor waterproof plumbing lights with their Solid aluminum water proof light globe cage and glass cover, that apparently were originally on ships in engine rooms, and designed to be explosion proof. Can't wait to finish them, and put them up outside my garage.

I've used quite a bit of black iron pipe in stuff I've made. Sometimes using the close nipple just doesn't look right. In those cases, I've used threaded rod which brings the fittings together. Thanks for the info on the sizing up of the light socket and pipe. Would like to see a video on wiring a black iron pipe light fixture and lamps.

Brilliant video, so many questions were answered for me. If I may ask, is there any savings by buying black pipe on line, as it is unlikely rated for gas which is ok, since we are making light fixtures? I noticed the ground screw on your flange, is it safe to say, you added that yourself? Thanks in advance.
@MrButterbean27874 жыл бұрын
Many people can't do this. It's all about the sizes and knowledge of fittings that are available for what you wanna do. I can tell you've done carpenter's work for a while.
