The little lake I fish has plenty of dense grass with the occasional pockets. I finesse fish a fat albert or fluke and when over the pocket dead stick it. The bite is subtle so watch your line. If you fish light like I do check your knots often (especially on flouro) and take off any line with abrasions. Otherwise you could also slow retrieve on the grass line, and drag your bait slowly over the deeper grass you can pick up staging females around the spawn. Also works early on those warmer days.

Hey Scott, I've recently starting fishing Okeechobee and I live 50 miles east of the lake in West Palm. I've talked to a few people and everyone says to fish the north end of the lake.. I've heard horror stories of people tearing motors up out there do to the bottom and lake levels.. Any spots in the south you would recommend seeing as I don't know the lake that well.. thanks.

that was funny when he says No fish here . hahaha. I was fishing for crappie today and I hook a nice slab and a guy drives his truck up to us and says you catching any . I say not much around today ,while the crappie on the end of my pole is pulling . I was on a bridge and the crappie finally came off after 5 minutes of mr gabby hehehe. Sometimes you have to fake it to keep the crowd away hehehe.
