I’m in a very similar situation with an early 3009 that I found. I’m interested to know how you got on with your restoration and conversion.

Worked out perfectly, been running the 3009 on the SL1200 mk2 since i shot this video.

@@cpgixxer Glad to hear it! How about the RCA conversion? I’ve been considering that but it seems like the better RCA cables are really thick and bulky. That’s what’s been putting me off. Added to which there’s the challenge of getting through the turntable enclosure. How did you do that?

@@andylewis7360 Yes , I had to use 90 degree rca adapters in order to run the cables out through the bottom- i ran into that issue.

Just an opinion, too late by now, I would not have messed with the Technics. You are not going to notice any difference with changing the arm, all you are going to do is devalue it. I would have kept is stock or sold it and bought a Garrard.

@@cpgixxer I have an SL1200 with standard arm and a Garrard 401 with SME arm. I wouldn't even try it. It devalues the Technics.

@@mmuzzwell3654 So the answer is no, you haven't and have nothing to compare to. A 401 isn't the same table.
