It's really nice to be able to lock materia and stuff, but one feature I would *really* like would be the ability to mark "trash" materia, so you can easily know at a glance that you've already determined this materia can be sold or used as upgrade fodder. It's cumbersome right now to have to inspect each one when you're in the Enhance or Sell screens to remind yourself or make sure it's one you've deemed as trash. I suppose you could go through and lock every one of them you want to keep but.. if you change your mind later you have to unlock it, and that seems kind of cumbersome too...

Thank you so much for taking the time to show us all this. I've been playing since October and while I've gotten my main team to about 172k power, I still haven't been doing much with materia since I didn't really get what I should be looking for (I know the substats are important, but didn't realize I should be watching fir percentages and what made a good ine or not). So now I'll start doing what you suggested in this video and see if I can't finally boost my team a bit better. Thanks again!

I got some questions. 1. 5:28 Does it matter if the most important stat is in the first row as you state? What if a Fire Materia has MATK stat in the third row? 2. When synthesizing a Fire Blow Materia, you say it is important to go for a PATK percentage stat. Wouldn't it be reasonable to also go for a MATK percentage stat? Or is fire blow just purely physical and doesn't benefit from a MATK stat? 3. Should I consider a freshly synthesized materia with only 1 stat as fodder if it doesn't at least feature a percentage stat that fits the materia (e.g. MATK stat for fire)? Should I only keep working on 2 or 3 stat synthesized materia? 4. I cannot find that Debrave Materia. Did the engine consume it when I used "optimize" when enhancing a materia? 5. What does "heal +0.5%" or "heal +5" do exactly? Does a character e.g. heal for 5 HP more when using "Cure" or similar materia or skills? Only on him/herself, or generally? 6. I got a Ruinra Blow (2 star, 5/10) with the following stats: MATK +0.6%, Heal +0.6%, HP 0.6%, PDEF 2 It doesnt feature PATK which would be the way to go with a physical materia, right? I also got a Ruinra (3 star, 3/7): MATK +2, PDEF +3, HP +16, PATK +2 It doesn't feature much physical power, but the HP seems high. Could this be considered a fodder materia and I should try synthesizing better ones?

Don’t worry about getting 5 stars. Sub stats is more important. This is a grind game, if u ever played genshin impact they have a system where u have to farm artifacts (gear) with the perfect substats such as atk % matk % etc.

Actually a 3 star would still be better than a 2 star regardless of substats depending on what u use it for (until u get the perfect roll that is) Like I was playing with it today with ice blows. Ice blow 3 star attack was around 250% attack and the 2 stars was around 220ish% on the attack. So while yes it sucks without the sub stats. But if ur making it specifically for certain fights that aims for enemy weakness. The high stars Materia will still do more damage than the 2 stars one (just with that corresponding move that the Materia offers) I didn’t see ur video till now so I wasted some mid grade synthesizing items… oh well. Wait for next month until I can grind it again Great video btw

if you mean the items to level them up, there are no missions to farm for them, you have to exchange co-op or crisis medals for them and the stock is monthly limited

You didn't mention using trash materia as level materials instead of using boosters. I highly recommend locking the ones you want to work on, then using trash to enhance.

You did miss the material you can buy from the dungeon shops they sell 4 star fire ice and lightning but than the only thing you miss

substat are still random anyway so i only use those to get 2+ guaranteed. save me some stone in the long run. now i use those trash 2 star materia to level good stat random 3 star that i acquire. at the start while the stat are lower the flat is better than percentage, however when your stat char wise is in the 1000 then the percent stat are better. for example. 3% of 100 str is 3, then the flat attack of 10 would be better. but 3% of 1000 then thats 30 so thats better now.. so dont be afraid to use those flat stat early on. Also you can use those leveled materia for the exp later on.

I'm not 100% positive on this but for me it looks like the percentage based subs max out at +5.0%. I've gotten lucky with a 4 star Quakera that grants +5% HP/+3.4% MATK and again with a 4 star Fira +4.5% MATK but sadly no HP on that one. Btw your content is amazing; I'm glad I found a good creator for this game!

@@dthao227 I want attack and HP. HP is the biggest power buffer of all the stats. Some content has minimum power reqs before you can attempt to do them, so it helps with that too.

@@Courtannica Nothing special. I just use 5 synth material for Ruin materia, and 7 for any other materia so they have 2 substats guaranteed. So far, I've only used the blue/rare synth material. I've gotten 2 more 4-star materia since I posted this, and my first 5-star materia. Same method.

I got cura from the synthesis tutorial, 3 stars PATK + 2.9%, heal +3.1%, HP +11 and MDEF +3, based on this video I assumed it's pretty good ? Although PTAK is not ideal as a second cura on a support character like tifa (with the new gear) maybe ?

I wasn't aware of 3* guaranteed for some of materia. Somehow i got 4* just by upgrading 3*. This game is a confusing mess at the moment. I'm not a fan of perfect stats and eternal quest to get it, no pvp in the game, so I'll aim for 4/5* and that's it. Cool Stats are important for smt dx2 duels. Any FF game about OP weapons/summons/ mega cheats to kill bosses instantly. Thanks for sharing your opinion tho.

@@dksoulstice6040 not very cheap if youre a f2p player. actually farming blue crystals is super slow so id rather save my blue crystals to pull for weapons, if unlocking those extra slots were a bit cheaper id consider but rn definitely not. this is also why i only unlocked the second chocobo expedition slot and wont be unlocking the third unless they give us a actual way of farming blue crystals. (co-op was so good for that getting 100-200 blue crystals per run until you matched with like over 50 players so now the most you can get per match is 20..)

I think there’s one more crucial thing you didn’t take in and so as i, I think that we should add materials to synthesis so we can get 3 guarenteed substats and pray for rng to give us % on the stats such as atk and matk. Because if we leveled up something with only 1 sub stat or 2 then we are wasting potential level up points that should be going into the stats instead of finding the next sub stat we are getting

I hate how the materia weapon slot boosts work because Cura for example doesn't activate any on Barret and Cloud. Meaning to get the most out of them you'll need to run all attack abilities on them and have only one healer on the team and from my experiences thats not really enough as of right now.

The base potency of your materia's substats go up as the rarity goes up. Rarity 100% matters. I have a 5-star Blizzard and it has 2.8% HP and MATK at level 1.

Dont use synthesis add material yet. There might be an event later for increased rates or event exchange limited time. Also you want to unlock Chocobo exhibition, the higher tier cities later, so you can start farming the blue and purple synthesis materials for Free.

They actually “can” I saw this guy with red crystals around 28000. (And is obvious he didn’t just pay the red crystals but also all the other boosts etc) He got this crazy 5 stars Materia and all the substat are %like + 7 n up etc. So yes they can still “buy enough” to increase the possibilities compare to us

its 300 gems bro. If ppl are gonna grind as long as u know this will take to get anythign that good.. They will live without the 1 extra summon and enjoy the better effeciency from having 4 slots, or really all 5. They give out enough free gems that 300 wont be felt in the long term.

In order for you to get 4-5 star Materia you want to hit near or at the timer indicated in the Synthesis. (Timer: 640m for example is equal to 10 hours 40 minutes for Cure to get 5 Stars. Anything under that but still in 10 hour time frame is guaranteed 4 star with a possibility of 5 star when upgrading). Youll be collecting these Materials later to try to get these 4 stars with good Substat and try to get 5 star when upgrading it.

I hope they give us soon a way to create all materias. Did the mistake by not locking Debrave and lost it with the optimize button and because of that struggled on tower lvl 30. Still managed to do it on 85k power but barely! Strongest fight so far for me. Great video btw :)

I always aim for at least three stars fresh right out of the picking.. That could go to 4 star, 5 star even upon upgrading it.. Anything below 2 stars is a fodder
