First, I'm so sorry about your loss, but this project you did with him... Fantastic. Honestly, he would be incredibly proud. This is BY FAR the best Smiling Man film interpretation I've ever seen. You nailed exactly the creepy abrupt aura the man was meant to show. The facial expressions, the quirky movements, the gracefulness, lankiness, sudden sprint you guys couldn't have done a better job setting all of that up. Perfect ambiance. 9/10 easily.

Not bad...not bad at all! Two complaints. One is that first time they see him, he's dancing from all the way across the street. Second, and my favorite part in the story, is when he approaches, he starts taking exaggerated tiptoed steps, like a cartoon character. Sure, it sounds goofy, but given the rest of his behavior, it really isn't. Good job portraying the smiling man, by the way. His dance walking was much more graceful than other video enactments I've seen.

2:46 I legit half-expected him to drop a, " *Smile* , sweetheart," even though I well know the creepypasta and so am well aware of the actual narrative. But I just have a cynical sense of humour. More seriously, though, this actor's control of his body is incredible. Going from the graceful solo waltz one moment, to dropping into the apish arm-dangle bent-kneed stoop in a single motion (like a puppet with its strings suddenly cut), and then also when he bursts into a fire-track sprint with zero warning from a standing start, with what looks like next to no acceleration time - my boy goin' from 0 to 44 in one second flat - was just truly impressive. That's an area of talent that is hard to find in your average actor; was this fellow, by any chance, a trained dancer himself - or even a showfolk person (circus, cabaret, etc.)? Most of the performers I have met who have this sort of physicality are of those backgrounds - and they do frequently cross over with the film community, so I was just wondering. Also, and what hardly needs to be said; his facial plasticity, with *that* smile, is amazing...and of all the Smiling Man derived shorts I have watched, this is the only version of his trademark rictus that has actually achieved its story-informed effect of being genuinely threatening, to the viewer. That initial moment when he turns his head to regard the protagonist, and we get our first good look at his face, the Uncanny Valley banner that is his visage plunged me into a legitimate state of unease - and kept me firmly there, throughout the rest of the events. And finally, and most serious of all...I'm tremendously sorry for your loss. It's a hard thing to lose a creative partner, and when you see a project you always imagined yourselves doing together completed, it's a sort of bittersweetness all its own. I hope you've been able to adjust over the years, and find the new normal. It was a beautiful dedication, and a fitting tribute, from the sounds of things. Wishing you strength, in the tougher moments. And thank you for sharing your work.

well I'm completely creeped out! this was awesome for your first film. I know nothing about filming or all the technical stuff, just what I feel is a good scary, creepy, movie. I've seen others that have a bunch of films out, and while they may scare me, there's also things with the actors, or small things that will annoy me because they are so predictable or poorly acted. while the whole "she drops her phone and he takes it to her house" is used a LOT, I think the acting by both actors was fantastic. no big boobed girl running and tripping over air with her boobs half hanging out, or crying and can't act cry to save her. So big props to these two actors as well. Great job by all 😊

@taracollins5597Ай бұрын
Don't be so hard on yourself! Don't listen too much to the naysayers on here either. This short is really good. I first saw it some time ago & I still remember it as one of my favorite "Smiling Man' entries. The actor is superb, for one thing. The fact that he is portrayed as an evil puppet, or.....wants to be perceived that way. His demonic smile is the stuff of nightmares, its perfect. The way he moves, you almost forgot he was acting. He is also easily the most handsome of all the Smiling Man portrayals & actually that does add to the tale! The actress truly looks scared. Maybe it was odd to have her crouch on the ground instead of stand, but she was likely petrified at that point. The ending is interesting too, that he may have used her phone to find her address & also shows he isn't 'done' with her yet. Good work on this.

@mikeymcchoas35113 жыл бұрын
Of all the Smiling Man videos, I think this guy does the best job physically. His 'puppet' imitation is flawless, his dance the best, his smile is the creepiest. and DAMN! At 3:40 he puts Usain Bolt to shame! Meanwhile, the girl runs like she is wearing lead shoes 4:00. My only complaint is the ending. Ok, he has her phone, how does this help him get in her house? The other films have the Roamer either looking behind to see SM there or they are asleep on the couch after SM bamfed inside looking down at him. Anyway, great job on this film. I get the sense that the Smiling Man is a demon doing a terrible job possessing a person and trying to look inconspicuous; the utterly unhuman trying badly to imitate what human behavior is and not even being able to control the body properly. Due to some unspecified supernatural law, it must keep its gaze fixed on the sky (or moon, or whatever). It is only released from these constraints when the Roamer becomes truly afraid and then it is free to pursue her to the best of its ability. Its origin, abilities and purpose will remain forever unknown which is as it should be with any horror film.

That was fantastic. I don't know about anyone else, but I thought the acting on that video was really great. Spookily accurate to how crazy some people are. The message? I see it. I have a feeling it's trying to tell us that if we ever see anything like this, we must immediately call 911/999 especially if someone seeming as crazy as that man follows you to your house. Which, is something she didn't do, and that was her mistake, as shown at the end. It's a thumbs up from me :)
