This is a fun roll to have for historical purposes - the song "Smiles" was composed by Lee S. Roberts, who was president of QRS, and the US music roll company was a chief rival of QRS. It's nice to compare and contrast with the much more well-known version on QRS by Roberts & Kortlander.
The lyrics are a nice reflection on the way smiles can have different meanings depending on nature and context. I like this version too...it sounds a little tipsy to me if that makes any sense.
I believe that this roll is from 1918, though it could be a few years later since it says "new interpretation" on the box. It appears that the same arrangement also appears as Supertone 5618. Also, I think the pianist was a woman - the name is credited as "pianiste" which seems to have been a gender designation by US.
