Smiling Cousins Killed Man at Las Vegas Strip Hotel

Erika Covington and Arionna Taylor have pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the May 2023 death of a man in a hotel room at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Bryan Altamirano-Solano was found shot to death in the hotel room. Prosecutors said surveillance footage and social media posts linked Covington and Taylor to the crime. It's called a plea deal/agreement for a reason. If you're not going to get a reduced sentence, then you wouldn't plead guilty, you'd take it to trial. The reason why they offer these plea deals is to save the taxpayer money from going for a full murder trial.

5:34 No, they DID NOT accept responsibility for their crimes. For one, one of them never said anything at her sentencing while the other did, but regardless, 2) accepting plea deals is NOT accepting responsibility for one's crimes in any way, shape, or form. In fact, most of the time, it’s simply just that the criminal doesn’t feel they can win a case and are just choosing the lesser of two evils that best serve them(i.e., losing a trial getting a way long sentence vs taking a plea deal getting a shorter sentence).
