7:50 This may be getting a bit too advanced for the target audience of this video, but in a lot of situations, it is better to target the enemy solo laner over their minions. When you attack the enemy god, their minions start attacking you, which means they aren't attacking your minions. It's possible to outclear just by targeting the god and taking minion aggro in solo. You get pressure off of that as well as off of the damage you do to the enemy solo, and most warriors can tank minions throughout the game. It does take some practice in solo to figure out when to target minions versus the god, so it's not an absolute beginner topic. But I think it's one of the most important things to learn to be a good solo laner, and one of the biggest mistakes I see in other solo laners. It takes practice, but you have to figure out which gods should focus minions, which should focus the enemy god, and at what point in the game to do either one. Some people will focus minions way too hard early game, and I'll get massive pressure and early kills because they refuse to fight. Others will be chasing me down trying to attack me while I proxy in midgame. Midgame fighting in solo is like slapping each other with wet noodles. They waste 30 seconds attacking me while I kill a wave behind their tower, I heal up the damage immediately, and then I go to mid and we kill their team because the other guy still has to clear the wave.
@silverfang45834 жыл бұрын
I think the main reason it isn't good to tell newbs is that it is normally incorrect to do early because minions just burst everyone early so it might get them to do it early
@DukeSloth4 жыл бұрын
You're right, that is an important strat. But yes, I do think it's too complex for beginners. I think it's something they'll learn when practicing individual solo gods and maybe watching guides for them specifically.

a MAJOR point that was missed here: BUY WARDS. this goes hand in hand with the "look at your minimap" point, but buying wards is absolutely essential to all levels of play. placing a ward gives you so much information, its practically the best item in the game, and its also subsequently the cheapest. buy wards, and then look at your map.

The mistake that players don't test gods in jung practice is very good. I remember when Heim was released, I read the kit and it said that crits do only 70% of damage. Then went to jung practice and tried it out and discovered that Heim autos did 800-1000 crit, immediately loaded amc, did exactly the same build and amc did 600 crit. Then week or two later one player in my team called me an idiot for building crit on Heim. I told him go and see for himself how much dam Heim can do with crits. I used to play all game modes, every day I had a goal to get the first win of the day. That lasted for 2 years, then I dropped arena and clash (didn't get too into that in the first place). Next 2-3 years I played conquest, joust and siege in a loop. And now I mostly play conquest and sometimes joust and siege.

I've noticed a lot of content for beginners in smite, but when it comes to intermediate and advanced players you kinda have to self find chomps of information here and there and the higher you go, the less concise and the more debatable stuff you find out, i don't want to blame anyone but that's something top players and even hirez itself should work on better, i almost think like most stuff is being somewhat purposely keept unclear, for either intentional inaccessibility measures for the average player or to keep coaching and similar activities more montetizable. Either that or the top boys consider that the community doesn't really want/deserve to know how things should work at a higher level, because the competitive scene is too small. While actually, promoting and stabilizing something that would actually help having people attracted to the competitive scene itself, as well as decreasing general toxicity by promoting self awareness based on higher community standards and norms, it would just make things so much better.

My personal tip for new players is to move to try out Arena after feeling comfortable enough with Co-op to move unto PvP. Arena is nice cause it allows you to test and practice the mechanical aspects of each god as well as trying out different builds in an environment that is more "real" than Jungle Practice or Co-op but without worrying too much about the strategies and complications of stuff like Clash, Joust, Siege and Conquest. Playing arena may not teach you about objectives, early game woes, rotations or larger-scale strategy but it WILL teach you about team compositions, character synergies, engaging/disengaging and what your god's role in teamfights. Arena is one of the main reasons I prefer SMITE over other MOBAS, it allows me to try out new characters in a less stressful environment and them playng them in other game modes once I feel comfortable enough to do more with them.

The button layout Savage is the best IMO for Xbox smite, only have to remove ur thumb from the right analog for the ulti. This is assuming you have a stock controller ofc

I’ve been trying to teach my gf to play smite in mid and support (so she can get an idea if she likes to be tanky or do damage) and I think the hardest thing for her is understanding where other players should be and the basic 2-1-1 and jungle set up. Lots of new players just run to random lanes which is understandable since the game tutorial doesn’t help at all. I told her not to worry about it for now but I know it’s confusing for her and lots of players I’m sure.

well first i would suggest for her (when in mid lane) to move the mini map a little closer to the middle of the screen (enter the settings tab by pressing ESC then select hud editor then move the mini map wherever is easier for her to keep an eye on you can also reduce the opacity) and to always be looking at it and always keep track of where ur jungler is, also tell her that the red buff is important and for this reason she should be always be keeping track of the jg, now when the jg is near the mid lane if she has her ult up then she can ask for a gank which is VGG hope this helps (sry for my english)

Ive been testing gods out in arena. I like arena a lot but it plays so much more different than Joust. Conquest terrifys me but that is only because im so new and I dont really understand roles and formations. I will give conquest a try at some point, but for now im still trying all the gods in arena AND 3v3 to see which I like the best.

I've never played SMITE, however i did play League and still am and im really experienced in it. Kinda had to watch this since i had some problems in the game, except clearing minions/csing since im adc and top main. Anyway, it is a fun game, i really like it even tho i still need to get used to how it works, i've never really played a MOBA styled game that is PvP.

Pro tip for lower computers. Or laptop players. Computers which don't work fast in smite are a pain. Low FPS, Freezes and such on. Before going into a real game go onto a bot lobby and let your device load the map. Aswell as items. It helps. I had a laptop and it REALLY helped put freezing down

The 1st mistake was to click on this random video in recommended queue :D 3:30 that was a frustrating turn of events People aren't afraid of conquest they afraid to stuck with trolls for potentially 40-50 min because of crappy matchmaking system

Hey Duke. I love your channel. I Thank you for this content because your guides have helped me many times to get a better understanding of the game. When you mentioned about exploring other games modes , I tend to enjoy Arena, however it doesn't seem like many people are a fan of it. Is Arena not a great mode to play? I also play Joust, and I used to play Conquest, though I'm still relatively a beginner in that mode. What are your thoughts on this, and I look forward to seeing that new Conquest video so that I can get back into it.

Don’t initiate a attack if you are out numbered. (Unless they are super low health and you understand their abilities/ know which of them are on cool down). “Save yourself” it’s better to play it safe and not get killed, than to put yourself in a dangerous situation/ stay in too long. Saving your leap as an escape (rather than using it to initiate) can help you get out of trouble. Like he mentioned, try out gods..... coming from FPS games I thought I’d much prefer hunters.... after learning the characters, their now my last pick. My beginner god recommendations: Kukukan Ra Discordia Zeus / Ah Puch (careful no escape, but powerful & good ones to learn about combos with) Neith Medusa Guan Yu Hercules (hesitant to put him, but other choice would have been Amaterasu and think Hercules is more typical warrior role... bully) Thor Bastet Kumbhakarna Xing tian Ganesha Ares Tried to keep it to a couple of each role, but many good ones (for beginners especially in mage and guardian, imo)... these are some I had early success/ fun with.

I just started smite a few days ago and I’ll admit to the “maining one or two gods” problem (I’ve play Cerberus for support, Freya for mid, and amaterasu for solo and jungle, and in the event I get carry I go neith) but I’m happy to announce that I almost immediately changed the keybinds and turned off auto buy and skill to try to force myself to get accustomed with buying in MOBA’s

keep in mind to 180 shots while fleeing ... there are often situations your support or nother player your jungle etc ... goes in to save and if you have something ranged cc or damage you can throw behind in a half second helping him he will love you nother 180 and flee further ... this kind of turn around may even will be the Turn around in the fight

My main mode is Arena due to how straight forward it is and how quick the matches are... Anyways, i got my friends to play and my #1 tip for them is "learn the items and dont use the same build every time, adapting to all situations is vital"

I want to add to the "try other game modes" point. I recently got my wife to try out smite, and I took her into arena because its a "simpler" mode. No jungle, no towers, no ganking, just simple god on god fighting. Good, basic start for beginners. She decided she hated the game and was getting stressed. But then a friend suggested we try conquest, the most complex, strategic game mode. My wife instantly felt better about the game. The slower, less chaotic pace of conquest, where theres only one or two gods to fight let her parse what was happening a lot easier, where arena is just all teamfights all the time. Basically, chaos. Conquest might be a better place to introduce new players into the game. I never realized that, considering how much "harder" conquest is, but the chaos of arena isnt really the greatest learning environment for some.

These guides are nice but most of the "tips" are usually missing something, things that might seem obvious to you or I, like clearing minions before attacking the enemy, add tips on how to clear the minions most efficiently for instance 🤷♂️ I'm trying to find a good guide for my friends that I got to start playing the game recently, haven't found any yet that I think will really help them much. I'm basically just trying to get them on the fast track to getting good and making good decisions and being more efficient because when I'm in the middle of a match with them it's quite difficult to also try to tell then what they should be doing, especially if all I have is the mini map. And most of the time I feel like they let their ego get in the way of letting me give them advice, so I think it would be easiest to find a good video or two, and send it to them lol

One thing that all new players tend to do that significantly cripples their gameplay is not reading what the itens and the gods skills do. A lot of times it leads to things like Mystical mail on Khumbakarna, for example.

My #1 for smite beginners: play! Something that I see a TON is newbies do is just picking a free rotation god and just meandering around playing a match here and there and then they say its cause they don't wanna lose a match. Finding a god that fits you and then playing to get that god is my biggest tip for beginners
@storyteller01114 жыл бұрын
Wait, isn't it the case that you build MMRs for each mode independently? If so then it shouldn't matter if you try out a mode later in terns of getting more difficult opponents.
@robbiemoritz54764 жыл бұрын
A mistake that I see a lot is people just building the auto build or items without looking at enemy team comp. Sometimes the enemy will be all physical or all magical but the new player will build items that defend the other type or will not build any defense at all when they could easily block a lot of the enemy teams damage by building at least one defense item.
