What is a MOBA?
Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas, or MOBAs for short, originated as a sub-genre of the RTS (Real-Time Strategy) genre. Because of this, in most MOBA games, the player takes control of a single character from the isometric (top-down) view akin to most RTS games. Typically, in MOBA games, a player takes control of a single character on one of two teams. Those players choose characters that all have their own abilities, or “kits”. To win, the players must use a combination of abilities, teamwork, and strategy to not only best their opponent, but destroy the opponents main structures. A bonus to the genre is that most MOBAs are free games, which is definitely a contributing factor of the their massive success. The genre has many titles, the largest of which being Defense of the Ancients (DoTA) and DoTA 2, League of Legends (LoL), and most recently SMITE!
What is SMITE?
SMITE is one of the more recent free MOBA games to enter the fray. In SMITE you don’t just choose a character, you choose a god. You’ll instantly feel an attachment to characters like Thor and Zeus because even if you don’t know the lore behind them, you’ve at least heard their names before! What makes SMITE so immersive is Hi-Rez Studios’ inclusion of historical lore into the gods’ abilities, kits, and play styles. Thor and Loki aren’t just characters from Marvel comics and movies. They’re also a part of Norse mythology and you can take control of them in SMITE!
What makes SMITE different?
SMITE takes all of the strategy of the top MOBA games and adds another layer of difficulty by putting you into the action! Unlike most MOBA games, SMITE offers players the chance to experience the MOBA genre they know and love from a third-person perspective. This unique perspective allows for an extremely immersive experience unlike any other game in the genre. While this doesn’t sound like such a big change, once you play it you’ll understand! All of these things added together is what has gaming websites everywhere continually rating SMITE as one of the best MOBA games available!

This was a huge jump for these videos and probably my favorite one so far (Although my first time hearing about chaac and his corn was a nice giggle) this was really well done and I love the art change at the beginning. Kevin A What? How. What? Have you even read a history book? No one with a high school level intelligence is going to say the Mayans and the Aztecs were the same as the Incans. Have you seen Emperor's New Groove? I doubt that's very close to actual Incan civilization, but it paints a distinct picture difference between Inca and the rest of those civilizations. Incans weren't even based in central America, their capitol, Cusco, is in Peru, in South America. No one's gonna say Machu Picchu was made by the Mayans and no one's going to say Tenochtitlan was an Incan city. Their languages were vastly different as well. No Incan's gonna be speaking Nahuatl because Quechua is entirely different. As well, Incans were a mountainous people 'cause they lived in the Andes and Peru. Machu Picchu was a mountainous structure. They didn't even have Pyramids, holy shit. Pachacuti is VASTLY different from Montezuma and Pacal. Even their sacrifices were so vastly different from other cultures. Incans only sacrificed children and not only were they picky about it, but to be chosen as a messenger to the gods via sacrifice was an absolute honor in the Incan empire. They didn't believe adults had what it took to be a gift to be sacrificed. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW DIFFERENT THOSE CIVILIZATIONS ARE. And it's offensive to the people who are descendants of the Incas, the Mayans, and the Aztecs to say there is no difference between them because they can very well tell you the difference. The Aztecs were feared deeply, the Mayans are still lauded for their innovations, and the Incan people were culturally well founded and amazing engineers. You don't have to be super smart to tell the difference. Look at a history book, google it, or look at a goddamn map. There are articles on Wikipedia you can read. tl;dr: google the fucking differences, asshat and stop being ignorant. It takes two seconds to realize how different these civilizations were from one another. From the way the dress, to their religion, to their fucking cities and architecture. Shit man, pick up a history book. Just because they're all mesoamerican civilizations doesn't mean that they're almost exactly alike.

i think they messed it up though, the mayans use the "ch" as a "k", i live near by some towns that have people who speak mayan (not the original because that one is extinct, they use a type of mix of spanish and mayan) and they call "ah-puch" as "ah-puK", so maybe the devs of Smite messed it up?

Looks like a really cool god. A tip for future reveals: this felt really rushed. The announcer talked so fast, I couldn't keep up with what the abilities were doing while Ah Puch did them on screen. It even seemed like sometimes the next sentence started before the previous one finished, maybe because of weird audio cuts. After just watching the video and without looking at the god's abilities/stats, I would only be able to take away that this god is a mid lane mage that uses corpses. I have no idea how it works.

No one will ever be more OP than bellona when she came out and the first few weeks, 200 health every 3 hits with some life steal, increased ranged increased damage and attack speed and life steal with ult and passive increased move speed, extended range on autos, take away your autos, stun you, block your autos, slow you easily. No one will ever be more op than her before nerf. EVER.

Kevin A when nemesis was released her shield blocked 100% damage, I used to dive into the most damaging ults I could find to heal, which would typically kill the enemy god aswell if I was fed....release nemesis was always fed.

Kevin A You must have a short memory. Most gods are OP on release. Geb's ult did 50% of a targets current hp as damage, his shield was based on percent hp instead of level, etc. Guan Yu was pretty crazy because of his ultimate. It was a pretty big area where he first did a bit of damage, then he slowed for a large amount on a second strike, then he stunned for a second (or more?), all the while doing insane damage. (May not be 100% accurate, that was a _long_ time ago.) Bellona probably doesn't crack top 5 when it comes to how overpowered someone is on release.
