What is a MOBA?
Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas, or MOBAs for short, originated as a sub-genre of the RTS (Real-Time Strategy) genre. Because of this, in most MOBA games, the player takes control of a single character from the isometric (top-down) view akin to most RTS games. Typically, in MOBA games, a player takes control of a single character on one of two teams. Those players choose characters that all have their own abilities, or “kits”. To win, the players must use a combination of abilities, teamwork, and strategy to not only best their opponent, but destroy the opponents main structures. A bonus to the genre is that most MOBAs are free games, which is definitely a contributing factor of the their massive success. The genre has many titles, the largest of which being Defense of the Ancients (DoTA) and DoTA 2, League of Legends (LoL), and most recently SMITE!
What is SMITE?
SMITE is one of the more recent free MOBA games to enter the fray. In SMITE you don’t just choose a character, you choose a god. You’ll instantly feel an attachment to characters like Thor and Zeus because even if you don’t know the lore behind them, you’ve at least heard their names before! What makes SMITE so immersive is Hi-Rez Studios’ inclusion of historical lore into the gods’ abilities, kits, and play styles. Thor and Loki aren’t just characters from Marvel comics and movies. They’re also a part of Norse mythology and you can take control of them in SMITE!
What makes SMITE different?
SMITE takes all of the strategy of the top MOBA games and adds another layer of difficulty by putting you into the action! Unlike most MOBA games, SMITE offers players the chance to experience the MOBA genre they know and love from a third-person perspective. This unique perspective allows for an extremely immersive experience unlike any other game in the genre. While this doesn’t sound like such a big change, once you play it you’ll understand! I've been sticking to LoL lately, but Smite has come a long way ever since I stopped playing. I remember it always be really fun though, and that's one thing it always had over LoL. It was always fun. It had a great and cool style, and was great for casual play. The characters had personality. You could even have fun when you were losing, and that's not something you see in a game everyday. Maybe I should consider coming back. I miss this game.

As someone who has been playing for almost 3 years this game: no, Raiju isn't OP, but he's in the need of nerf. He's supposed to be a frontline Mage, but he doesn't have enough protections nor a heal to mesh with it, yet he has the highest scalings for Mage in the game, meaning a good Raijin will build full damage unlike others frontline mages like Zhong who are going to buy some defense instead of full damage.

+MeiaLua if you have ever seen lore on fujin then you'd know that they look very similar anyways, fujin is just green and has different clothes. in lore they look like twins anyway. and he's different enough to make a fun god out of that is separate from raijin. but i do think fujin will come way later

I just started playing Smite on PS4 today (used to play it on PC but never really got invested in it since I would usually be preoccupied with playing League with my friends) and as a challenge I bought 400 gems and randomly selected two gods I would commit to mastering...Raijin and Fenrir were those two.

I think a lot people see Enel or the Teen Titans variant of Raijin, which I think was just called Lightning (now that I think about it, he may have been based on something else entirely). If they intended to add Fujin then they should have made him the skinny to Fujin's fat, both muscular and terrifying but one leaner and the other stocky. Good compare and contrast, like Ravana and Kumbhakarna though that may be a reason for them to avoid doing it again. This could simply be taken as proof they aren't going to add Fujin since he seems to be an exact copy of Raijin at the moment but no telling with them, I mean look at Herc's head. I'll admit I was initially upset too but all the comedy gold mined from it since has more than accommodated for the shrinkage.

They could've made him look big and bad without making him look so clunky and compressed. The way he walks looks very forced as well. He is still a god, so his movements should look more...godlike. Maybe make him walk like Agni or make small thunderclouds appear at his feet as he walks around. About his drawings depicting as overweight...well, in-game he also doesn't look that well-built to me. They added bulkiness but they didn't add size. They need to make him bigger as in taller so that he actually looks like a big bad demon god. Right now he looks funny. Look at those tiny drums...they look adorable...not very intimidating at all. Look I'm gonna be honest with you. You know what a bear is, right ( You KNOW what kind of bear I mean)? They should've made him look like one. Maybe give him a musclegut or just make him look buff. Then he'd really look like a badass demon god and not an angry little baby drummer. I also think his skills look really underwhelming they should look way more powerful. His first skill looks pathetic...you call that lightning? His Raiju skill also looks kinda underwhelming...

+Elandrianthetrue I'm used to playing Assault or Arena where most fights are all 5 of you at once, and the % drop is important. But Spear of the Magus got a HUGE buff with Raijin. Instead of stacking % which is useless early game, it now stacks in -10s. So it has like 45 penetration now after a few hits. Which is insane early game vs tanks or Auras.
