Everyone saying its a copy of Wukong from Leagues is wrong. If you read a Chinese mythology book everything Wukong does in the book are his skills. They didn't copy league of legends they used the info from the mythology book just like Riot did.

As an Asian kid I grew up with the stories of the Monkey King and his Journey to the West. What SolShadows is true; these people did not "copy" Riot cause Riot never invented him. His abilities do fit perfectly to his lore, he has an expandable stick that could grow in size or decrease, he could transform into other animals, he rides a cloud, and could clone himself. It may look like a copy of league wukong, but that's because his abilities were based off of his lore as well.

I know that, most fans of Smite do know that because we know that the characters are all based on mythology so we know that Smite didn't make them. They picked them out of religions and mythologys. They only made up the abbilities and those are also based on what the characters do in the story. So, I was only saying that Smite didn't copy LoL. Never said they didn't take it from somewhere else. Almost all of Smite knows that btw, so you're only talking to LoL fans right now. Not a fanboy but thought that you would like to know that none of the characters of Smite are original and are all based on gods. The tagline is battleground of the gods if that didn't tip you off.

I don't play Smite, but I love this Wukong way better than the LoL Wukong. The abilities are far more accurate to his story than LoL's, and as a Chinese and mythology buff, seeing something like this is just pure awesome.

Its because Smite's Wukong IS meant to resemble Wukong. The LoL's Wukong just takes the name and the characteristics as references. Its not supposed to resemble the real Wukong.

Its because Sun Wukong its not "a monkey" he's more like "A monkey who acts like a man", he does have his "monkey style kung fu", but you see, Smite's first SW was a "agile monkey" and they remade him. Why? Because that's not Sun Wukong in fact, its just a stereotype of a "human-monkey" used often to represent him instead of using the ACTUAL personality of the character (as described on journey to the west). In other words, its just a false image created by people who just know the character but doesn't know his story (and creates a new one). Despite Monkeys have been always correlated with trickery and chaos, the godmade Sun Wukong would be more like Jackie Chan than Jim Carrey.

Guess you got this wrong. Sun Wukong its not the only one affected by that. You have to moderate between been truly based on the lore and based on the "popular concept" from the character. Thor, for example: It has redhair, but still carries a giant brick-in-a-stick. You need to remember that not everyone is familiar with all those gods. And even those who are, probably are just with a FEW, not all of them. So, they can't put references that most people wouldn't understand even with a "google search". Neither they can "transliterate" the character without adaptadions. Because, not every aspect from the gods "is cool" to be present on a game. And that includes their power and their personalities. If they just put exactly what is described on the lores without any adaptation for the Smite format (and the MOBA format, of course), then when Bastet had less than 40% of life, it would turn into Sekhmet, berserk away, get the first god he seeks (ally or enemy, doesn't matter), maul him, and rip off his head with her mouth (and only Anhur would be immune to that). They just kept his "cat-goddess" aspect, but don't used his "duality of the woman" aspect. Why? Because it wouldn't add anything more interesting on the game, it would just make it less attractive. We cant consider Smite a Gods-book, its just a game that teatches the BASICS of the knowledge about the gods. If you want more, you can learn by your own, but that extra knowledge has no need to be used on the game. P.S.: About the two skill with the pole. Actually, HoN's Wukong have pretty similar Skills (all of them) than the other two games... '-'

Both games took inspiration from the book "Journey to the West," and the signature moves are pretty much what they are in the book, so there's really no "copying" here.

So before anybody comment on anything, you should maybe look up a bit about Sun Wukong or "Journey to the west". Also, he isn't really mythology, he was the main character of journey to the west which was a story written in the 1500's. Journey to the west is one of the 4 great Chinese classic novels so Wukong is really well known. You could call it mythology but, to me he is still just a hero in a fictional story. p.s. Yes, I do know he becomes a god in the end

It's what the myth says it's not an intentional copy of LoL but Smite is all about gods and mythology so as Sun Wukong is, first i had the same thought about wtf they just copied from LoL but no it's true he's a myth. So i don't consider it as a copy. But what i don't like about LoL is that they copied every aspect from Dota and made it into an easier concept of moba what realy bothers me. Also Riot is so bad in balancing that game that it's by most unplayable for me and i've played that game for 3 seasons D1, if they ever gonna make a LoL 2 i hope it's gonna be original and good balanced because this version will never get balanced anymore.

Rico Konings He's actually one of the main characters in Journey to the West, a famous Chinese novel. He's not a myth or a God. Goku from Dragon Ball was based on him. I'm not actually sure why he's in SMITE. However, for the original poster, LoL is the last game that will claim somebody copied from them. Because LoL is /entirely/ based on the first DOTA mod.

Sun Wukong being an ancient Chinese fable character is common knowledge. Wukong in LoL has a kit that is inspired by the mythos. Expanding pole, clones (among other magic), and the like are all from the fable. LoL did not create any of those things.
