Ok I’m still relatively new to smite and I’ve had these videos recommended to me recently, I enjoy watching them but mostly don’t understand a lot of the context. Can someone explain what old Lonos Mask did compared to after they reworked it?

You take 20% less damage, and do less damage. So if you just go full tank on a character that isn't a warrior or a guardian, you got very tanky. Ravana being a prime example of an abuser, since he's already got so much survivability. Could also stack it with sigil of the old guard (lonos wasn't a starter before) for a silly amount of mitigations

Old Lono’s mask simply just reduced the damage you took by 15% flat but reduced your damage by 15%. It was busted on Ravana since he has passive damage reduction and glad shield makes him do more damage with protections. Essentially think of an assassin with 40% Cooldown, about 35%-40% Damage reduction, and about 250 prots. It also wasn’t a starter item so you could build it with tanky starter items too.

It reduced his damage done and RECEIVED by 20%, while also giving a good amount of protections and HP. You could buy it at any level and it was cheap.

Midigation is a special stat, and lono's gave a lot of it. The reason its special is the more you habe the better more is. Mitigating 20% of 100 damage means you take 80. Add another 9% midigation and you don't go from taking 80 to 91% of 80 (72 damage), you take 71 damage. Not a big difference, but add sigil of the old guard and that moves another 12% midigation. If it added the way most other stats do, it would take that 72 damage and turn it into 63. But since it's multiplicative it turns the 71 into 59. So if a hunter shoots your tank for 100 damage, they're shooting Ravana for 59. And his passive makes him generate shields the more he hits enemies, and there are very few tools to counter those shields being built, so it's hard to even hit his actual health bar instead of just punching a ton of shields.

Ravana’s passive made this build soo much better. Because that also got a buff at around this time. That build from behind though is ROOOOUUGGGHHH. I believe it was SOT on ravana and the enemy just flat out ignored him and took the phoenix.

Glad shield isn't that good, it was simply brought it line with the items other classes have access to. He had levels on them and as soon as he got lono's he was unkillable

Compare a build with glad shield to a build without you'll see the difference. Only AA warriors don't use it. Solo Lane is infested with glad shield builds.

It's built because it's one of the few hybrid items that wasn't nerfed into the ground. Most junglers tried it out when it was buffed but most don't bother with it now. hated this meta. couldn’t damage solo assassins who had lono’s + any other mitigation item. hated it. Rat and Ravana were the biggest offenders. couldn’t even kill them as AMC with max CDR and Pen and a qin’s… it was a nightmare

@@paperxplane1 Chaac has more in his kit than any other God, he's soooo good. insane hp/mana sustain, massive aoe, massive damage, an incredible movement skill that when used right can literally make you impossible to catch, a massive slow, a massive silence, a knockup, crowd-control immunity during ult and immense reduction in damage taken, his 2 also gives him MASSIVE protections. No one else boasts his immense damage with as much immense aoe he has, as well as has such high sustain and crowd control.

@@The_Totes_Adorbs I think you're exaggerating the damage a bit too much. As a Chaac main i love him but when hunters hit late game you still get shredded and your damage falls off a lot, or you're squishy if you built damage. I think Chaac is a bit of a jack of all trades. He can engage with ult, be relatively tanky and do decent damage, has a mobility option, and self healing which forces people to buy antiheal. He's not amazing at anything specifically though. His mobility takes using 2 abilities and outside of going over walls of doesn't get you far. His damage is amazing early but falls off pretty hard lategame until perhaps you get bluestone brooch. He doesn't have any hard cc outside of ult and his ult is also a bit telegraphed and therefore sometimes easily avoided (for example Anhur/Hou Yi leap at the right time) and it does nothing). Don't get me wrong I love Chaac and he feels amazing to play but I'd like to stay realistic.

everyone is hating on lono's but glad shield is the real problem tbh. it deals way too much damage. There is 0 reason for a physical god to not go hybrid or glad shield tank. It deals almost as much damage as ability based power builds but is insanely tanky at that. god i hate that item with a passion in the state that it's in rn. It's a must build...

@@elchaval9286 I don't want them to get popped for free but trust me, lancelot with glad shield tank build for example can easily 1v3 others. Same goes for Achilles, ravana to some extent and KA. Glad shield rn is way too strong. Especially with a god with hard ccs. Just build soul eater, manticore spikes and glad shield, you'll easily solo several enemies and survive. Remove glad shield from the equation and you'll still be able to box with enemies but not freely solo several enemies.
