Bought mine last November for $525 total. Added a Holosun red dot and a Magpul hand stop. I’ve put just over 1,000 rounds of mixed ammo through it with zero issues. It’s fun to shoot. Everyone I know who has fired it doesn’t want to stop. Easy to carry, very accurate out to 75-100 yds. Good trigger. Great to carry in the pickup.

Let me say up front, I own this carbine. That said, your objections are valid for you. I have some of the same objections that you had, not all. What is needed to be top of mind for anyone who is looking to buy this excellent firearm is that... you are not a tactical warrior! You are just a normal guy who likes to shoot, you have probably never been in a gun battle and you won't have to worry about a tactical reload. Ever motion necessary to make this firearm run smoothly can and should be done slowly and smoothly, which will increase in speed with practice. I you are shooting in self defense and go through a magazine without being concealed or under cover, then you should re-think your tactics when you have to reload. I have found this firearm to be reliable, accurate, comfortable and easy to use, clean and maintain. It is a very good firearm for the purpose it was designed.

Wow. Whine much??? You want S&W to build the perfect (in your mind) FPC. Awesome, but then you would whine at the $1800 price tag. This is a $550 firearm. It is an awesome gun for what it is and what it is priced at.

The Smith having an MSRP of $700, makes an AR PCC a better option for me. However, as stated in my conclusion, I believe the Smith is VERY fun to shoot, and if you could find one under that cost, I consider it a good option. If you can find one for the $500 range, I believe that would be worth it, and the after-market provides good options for setting it up.

Whining. I’ve got one and it always fills me with joy and appreciation. I don’t have to slap it to enjoy it, and if you have the mental capacity you can do competent shooting out to 100 yards, maybe a bit beyond that. I fully believe that I got more in this than what I paid new for it, but I don’t use iron sights except on my shorter barreled pistols. Here, I find a Holosun green dot perfect.

Thank you for watching. I'm not trying to whine, just trying to show the ins and outs for folks who are shopping. Seeing as how you already own it, that part of the video is irrelevant for you. Standing unsupported, I was hitting my head sized steel target rather easily, I am pretty impressed with its accuracy. It really needs a dot sight. Overall, it's a very fun firearm to shoot.

Hi, I found your video helpful. I do not own one, but I plan on it in the near future. I prefer it over and AR 15 carbine. Why? (And I own ARs) 1. It folds, which makes it more compact 2. It folds, which makes it not as identifiable to some people as a gun. 3., it folds, which makes it a process to fire. I live alone and like to have one gun in my house that is near to me and ready to fire. However, I have small grandkids and when they come over, I put my gun up and my bedroom is off limits to them. However, mistakes can happen . I feel like this folding gun being more difficult to identify as a gun and being a process to fire is an extra level of security and safety for me in my home situation. 4., Home defense. It’s a caliber that I trust and it’s a caliber that’s the same as my carry weapon. in defense, it’s more accurate than a pistol because I can shoot it more accurately under stress and under high repetition. It has plenty of range for the home, but yet not as much penetration through walls as an AR 15 in 556 . caliber. And it is quieter. 6., it is cheap to shoot based on the caliber and the current price of ammo 7. It is made by Smith and Wesson, an American made product.. It does not have plastic trigger parts like the Kel tec and it folds sideways rather than from the top, which means it doesn’t interfere with your sites or your optics. The gun is a reputable name and even though it’s new, the guts of it are proven through their pistol line. 8. I find the price very reasonable. Considering you can’t hardly buy a decent pistol much cheaper than that. 9. It carries a lot of ammo. 10. Charge handle does not reciprocate Now I agree with all of your gripes except the pricing value . At least my sources I can buy it under $580. Which is about the same price range as my carry.guns. As I said, I agree with most of your grapes, but I think you exaggerate them too much in your. advice now you said you wouldn’t buy one and that is always a personal choice and I appreciate your opinion on that I just happen to NOT share it as my opinion

Thank you for your reply. I stated it was a fun shooter and If you could find one under that listed MSRP, that it would be a good choice. For me, there is more value in a pistol caliber AR platform, especially from a combat or defense perspective. Such as the Smith and wesson "response" which is a 9mm version of the FPC but has usable AR ergonomics.

I have a Vortex scout on mine and some small mbus's, and the eye relief is perfect. It balances out the loaded mags in the stock and is solid for plinking at 75 yards. Heavy in that configuration but it also eats up the recoil. The LEF also keeps my whiskers from being caught on the charging handle. The best part is the ease of cleaning compared to the usual PCC blowback block systems.
@LuckyLoonOutdoors
@LuckyLoonOutdoors Ай бұрын
That sounds like a pretty solid setup. This carbine already has very manageable recoil, so I can only imagine how much of a peach that would be to shoot. It is certainly much easier to clean, thats a good point. The carbine has its quirks, but it is certainly a fun one to shoot.

@@LuckyLoonOutdoors I did, but that gun was made with enough differences - maybe specifically to look like an AR - to jack up the price above the FPC. I like the magazine in the pistol grip rather than having it forward. No, I would have liked S&W to offer this same gun without the hinge - the S&W NFPC - for $100 less. Just wishing.

Ah got it. I do like the options to swap out the magwell to use different branded magazines. Aluminum construction etc. However, you are essentially back at just another pistol cal AR at that point.

@@LuckyLoonOutdoors The Response is $200 more expensive, so an $850 9mm is something that makes you look at other guns in other calibers at that price point that might be more useful or more fun. $850 is Box Store price, as well, if they can get it, so the FPC is more attractive at it's price point. Plus the California Democrats added an 11% tax to 2nd amendment purchases, which means my tax is an additional $170. Off topic but my lgs states the extra tax penalty does stifle sales of more expensive guns. Bummer, eh?

I'm pretty sure a company makes a free-floating extended rail that screws into those 6 screws above the hand grip/ in front of the charging handle. Now only if there was an upgradeable bolt catch button. Other than that it is amazing
@stephenhood2948
@stephenhood2948 3 ай бұрын
They do make accessories for this gun. There is a rail mount that bolts on where the 6 screws that hold the upper to the lower and extend the rail back further, but the rear rail section wont be level with the front rail, but you can put a riser on the front sight to use irons on it. Works well with a red dot though. They also make aluminum front handguards and replacement buttstocks, but the buttstock I saw dosent have mag storage, which would be finr with me because the gun is way to unbalanced with full mags in the stock. I did hear some company was producing an aluminum replacement charging handle as well, but havent saw that myself yet.

S&W could have sold millions more if they would have made it Glock compatible or even just made it so you could just change the magwell out like Ruger did on the Carbine... For this reason, I'm out.. ... and S&W Response was a disingenuous attempt to sell more...the most common complaint they received was the one I mentioned... and what did they do.... crickets.... Thanks for sharing n' God bless

Thanks for watching and commenting! I understand why they didnt make it glock compatible and to me thats completely acceptable. Competitor brand and the M&P series of pistols is plenty popular and has plenty of aftermarket support. They had a fun idea going for this pistol carbine Buuuuuut.... After seeing their execution of it, it seems to be more of a money grab to me, at a minimum rushed to production. None of the controls are in the right place, the construction is all plastic, nothing but small bolts and nyloc nuts holding it together and more. It seems like they took a concept and just made it without truly testing it. How in the world does this thing make it to market, and the only control surface you can operate is the trigger.

If you can find a better gun that does the same thing please let me know!!! I keep one in my boat box for hog's! It folds up but I can keep a 3 power scope on it! @LuckyLoonOutdoors Ай бұрын
@jlduke73 The S&W FPC charging handle is a non-reciprocating charging handle. If you do not lock the charging handle in the forward position there is a greater than 90% chance it will hit you in the face. Similar to an AR.

The charging handle is not supposed to reciprocate. If your FPC is doing that you likely have an issue with the catch, similar to many other people. Meaning when you fire, the charging handle is not staying put and is moving with the firing impulse, then being slammed forward with the bolt. I suggest contacting S&W customer service, they have always been easy to deal with for me. +1-800-331-0852
