I’ve had mine for about 3 years. Suddenly it’s misfiring and I’m not sure why. I’ve cleaned it and looked it over. Not the typical slide lock problem. Just simply not hitting hard enough to fire I think. Bad striker spring maybe 🤷‍♂️
@rsl82568
@rsl82568 Жыл бұрын
@@renh1390 I had the same problem after buying used. So the took the hand gun apart. i cleaned the Striker spring and the housing it goes into. No problems since Cleaning the housing. The housing was vary dirty. I know it has been fired a lot, After shooting 2000 times the striker spring and housing needs to be cleaned or misfires can happen.

I have the SD40 (non-VE) with black slide and factory fiberoptic sights. I installed the Apex trigger and spring kit, and it shoots very well. These are a great deal when you can find them for under $400. I've seen them as low as $290-300, which is a steal.

Maguplula helps a lot with the loading of stiff springed mags like the SD9VE. I was very lucky to find a private party who sold me mine's after CA removed them from the handgun roster. An absolutely awesome reliable gun and I love it! Glad I got this as my first handgun purchase. I would definitely recommend this for any first time shooters who want a gun like the Glock but don't want to throw the cash down for it.

They're reliable guns. My only issue was with the annoying rattle from the bullets moving forward and back in the magazines while I walked. Otherwise it's a great choice for range days and home security

Just an update on mine. After mixing and matching different trigger springs I got an original S&W M&P 2.0 trigger return spring and that brought me up to 5 lb. That's where I left it. Beautiful smooth trigger pull and a positive reset that's tactile and audible. Don't know if I mentioned it before but I also polished all of the contact points to a mirror polish. That includes the striker block plunger. If you want to maximize this pistol platform you have to do all of that but it's rewarding you get the weight down where you want it with zero grit and zero humpin the trigger. I liked it so much I bought a second one and just completed building it but the second one's all in black, plain old SD 40. But let me tell you they are both sweet shooters. Did not have any issues on my range sessions just wanted to fine-tune the pull, now I got the secret sauce to get the most out of these things. Sure I can drop the trigger pull down another half pound by sticking with the Apex trigger return spring but that gives you kind of a wimpy reset that's a little spongy. Some people might not mind that but as far as from a reliability standpoint the positive reset and addition of a half pound is a very minor sacrifice for the all-around gane. It's finally what it should have been.
@Sandhill1988

I put the complete Apex kit in my SD40VE Springs and Trigger, got consistent 4.5 lb trigger pull. Also tested it with the original Striker spring and it was about 5.5 lbs . If I have any reliability issues with light primer strikes I'll just go back to the original Striker and live with the 5.5 trigger. That's still pretty good.

Picked mine up locally at Rural King on a Black Friday special for 199.99 3 years ago. Great defense pistol( I call it my “ Glock- a - like”). Heavy trigger... good for defense. Definitely didn’t like certain reman ammo, as far as accuracy was concerned. It ate it up, but was grouping like a shotgun pattern lol. Good ammo gave good accuracy and group size. Semper Fi!

As far as first handguns go, you could do a LOT worse than an SDVE. This was the first gun I ever bought in 2015. Got it used for $250 with both mags and a crappy Galco holster. Still have the ol' girl tucked away in the safe and have probably put several thousand rounds without a single hiccup. Its a solid starter pistol. I think it'll get the job done.

I love my SD9VE, I have friends with the Glock-19 and they lke the "feel" of the SD9 better than the boxy Glock. As far as the trigger it's a hard pull until you get used to it, but this is my home and carry self defense weapon and if I need to ever use it I don't need more reasons for a prosecutor to come after me for legally owning and using a weapon in self defense. So I'm leaving my trigger just as it came from the factory.

Im just so salty cause I bought this without thinking... Maybe I need a double action revolver but idk ,I literally can't pull it back to clean or to rack ,I have others do it for me ....❤ Thanks ,here's a sub and all opinions is appreciated

A couple of things to try is, pull out the recoil rod and spring and inspect the rod (it's plastic) if it isn't straight it could be a problem. Re-assemble the gun without the recoil spring and see if the slides are smooth. There are aftermarket recoil assemblies, some made of metal. Good luck.
