I'm a old retired cop. You are doing a valuable and much needed service. I've been a firearms instructor in both the military and my civilian careers, but never considered the gun store etiquette the new gun buyer needs to be familiar with to not feel like a fool. You have done a real service to many people that were lost about what to do safely. I commend your actions.

I'll pray for you.. you lied for a living. For the love of money.. i.e. job. You know what God calls liars? Sons of satan. Supreme court said ok to lie. Supreme being said not ok. You can only serve one master. You seem proud to be a retired lier? Why I say this. Few if any cops in heaven I think. Stop bragging about being a paid lier for years. And brag about finding God. God bless

Why be called a fool just because you dont know the etiquette of a shop you may never been into before. That's the store staff to educate the customer IMHO.

I’ve been a responsible gun owner, Hunter, military veteran, and shooter for more than 60 years but am still amazed at the number of people who handle firearms unsafely in gun stores. For example, people trying the trigger or just examining a gun but waving it all over the place, muzzle-sweeping everyone around them. Another example is folks who don’t either return or accept a firearm by clearing it themselves EVERY SINGLE TIME. Last but not least is those who rest their finger on the trigger all the time it is in their hand. Full disclosure here, even as safety conscious as one can be, there can always be accidents or unintended events. Just don’t let them result in an unintended discharge. Guns are ALWAYS LOADED, & never point a gun at ANYTHING OR ANYONE you don’t intend to shoot. There are other gun safety rules that matter but if you just obey these two herein, you can prevent the great majority of firearm related accidental shootings. Be safe everyone!

I understand & agree w/ everything you said.. Except for trying out the trigger. I don't quite understand what you're saying there. Are you talking about people trying out the trigger while not pointing it down & away from everyone? When I'm in a gun shop, I always ask first if I want to try out the trigger & of course clear it when I get permission (as I always clear it). I'm assuming I'm just misunderstanding what you're saying..? Because I've never been in a gun shop where they felt it's unsafe to safely try out a trigger. The way your sentence is structured.. I suppose you might be talking about ppl waving/muzzle-sweeping, while either examining or trying out the trigger..? That of course would be insane. Do you really see ppl doing that though while trying out the trigger in gun shops? I've definitely seen some ignorant ppl handling firearms in ridiculously unsafe ways. I've just never seen a person at a gun shop dry firing while muzzle sweeping. Sounds like you're a lot older than me though, so I wouldn't doubt it if you've came across more idiots than me. LOL Regardless.. Thank you for your service & God bless!

Although I have been using/owning firearms for almost 60 years, an Army Infantry vet and a certified NRA instructor I found this video to be very well presented, quite informative for new firearms owners and a good brush up for those so called experienced gun owners. You probably are wondering why I watched your presentation. I personally seen several incidents over the years of supposedly experienced people at gun stores with some rather bad habits and questionable handling skills. Good job young lady.

I walked into a shop with my wife and teenage daughter (17 at the time) my daughter decided to look at a firearm (this is Texas, mind you), and she swept the store with it… I immediately took the gun away and gave it back to the dealer, then corrected her on what she did. I have had hunters safety courses, so I am very sensitive on firearms safety. The gentleman behind the counter was grateful that I was able to teach her the finer points of firearms safety in a public setting. Good video.

It surprises me your Texan daughter wasn't taught proper gun etiquette by 17. I'm from WI and most kids here have gun safety courses by 10yo and often earlier. I hope you didn't have a gun in the house without teaching your kids about them.

Great information from both of you. Thanks for sharing. My father was in the gun business about 50 years. I still go to gun stores with him, just like when I was a kid. Someone we know pointed a gun at him in his house. The guy is a veteran which shocked my Dad. Gun safely is not sometimes it is all the time, no matter where you. My Dad who is in his mid-80s, will never forget that breach of safety, and that man will never be invited to the range. Safety training is just as important as training to shoot.

Interesting video. Here what I do in a Gun Shop: - when I want to bring a Gun to service, repair or such, I have it everytimes in a locked case. I give the person in that shop the key of the case. the gun lays in it with open slide, without a magazine or the empty Magazine lays next to the gun and isn't in the gun. I describe the employee as exactly as I can what I want or what they should do. - when I want to test a new gun I am interested in buying it, I make an appointment with the staff for their range to test it there. I never handle a gun in the store, except a short look before I go to pay it. - because I carry a duty gun in my holster I everytimes let the staff know, I carry a concealed gun, where it is, and that I don't touch it in the store. - my wallet is never on the same side like my gun. my gun is everytimes on my belt on the right side. And my wallet on the left side in the inner pocket of my jacket. - I alway let the staff to know what I want to do, and why I want to do it.

This was a great video and something I needed to know prior to going into my local firearms dealer. I am new to firearms ownership, and want to make sure that when purchasing a home defense pistol I am following the safe and proper protocols when in store. One major concern I had was wanting to test trigger pull, dry fire. So I am extremely grateful you put that into this. Lastly, a great topic that I didnt even think about would be how to manage purchasing a holster with my current fire arm. These were valuable tips and I thank you for that. Well off to my dealer. Thank you, Stav for offering your Armed and Confident Course to one lucky person. I hope it is me. I took my first gun safety class in July 2021. One month later, a certified NRA instructor met me at an outdoor range and I was able to try out a few of his guns before purchasing my own. While researching youtube for gun reviews I came across your video where you compared the regular S & W to the Shield Plus. I was so impressed with your review of the Shield Plus that this is the gun that I purchased. I love it. Tomorrow I take my LTC class. I want to conceal and feel confident and comfortable. Most importantly, I want to feel safe carrying a gun and know that the people around me are safe as well. Thank you.

The reason is because I currently have the ring doorbell in which we get alerts not just of what’s happening at our front steps but around our neighborhood. A lot is happening as far as car thefts, home break ins, as well as deviancy. I have small children at home, while I’d like to learn about protecting them and myself through your course because of the reasons above. My roommate as well as myself have a pretty solid system if someone knocks or is on the property after 10 without either of us expecting someone we go ahead and grab our pistols its not a bad neighborhood per say but its not a gated community either and it is in town significantly below national average crime rates but they do happen our dogs also never really freak out about people or noises they dont ever bark unless theyve heard a noise often enough a racoon or some such cause if you come on the property with a gun not holstered or on your back our king shepherd will absolutely attempt to bite your arm wrist or hand and get you to drop it if your daughters have dogs they want to teach this attitude to we just bought nice low powered airsoft pistols and rifles like a hundred and fifty feet per second weve shot each other shirtless point blank with them on our skin obviously before we would ever consider it on the dog hes our big ol baby but it stings a little and left a red spot for like 20 minutes on our skin again get a low powered one please dont hurt your dog just make sure he doesnt like it but it took about 3 or 4 times coming into the yard through the back gate and shooting him in the but cheek with it shepherds are very fast learning intelligent dogs and around the house we carried them holstered so he builds that association between a drawn weapon and a holstered one drawn weapon is bad holstered weapon is ok and wear some kind of forearm and wrist protection otherwise your dog will either think its not ok to take someones gun away with everything hes got or you'll get hurt in the process but I mean we spent maybe a hundred bucks and two weeks periodically training him and he has a very good understanding of what to do if someone who doesnt live there has a weapon out in our yard or house and if someone tries to break in without a weapon im a veteran hes national guard and we hit the range and run drills every two or three weekends we can have it more than handled by the time the cops arrive dont know what your kids price range is but while I personally splurged a little and got a really nice walther that I love glocks arent that expensive and for a first time buyer theyre a solid handguns if you have to go cheap dont get a high point please at least get a taurus again not great handguns but they do the job and I know training can get expensive when the dod isnt paying for it just get a good high and tight hold squeeze the trigger with the pad of your finger and make sure youve got money for a few hundred rounds to familiarize yourself with and start slow no need to be john wick on day one for a first time firearm shooter in general I only put one round in the firearm and have them shoot it before I load full magazines for them took an ex to the range once its not uncommon for people not accostomed to it to freak out a little on that first loud bang or even drop the firearm most guns are drop safe but you can be safe a thousand times and fuck up once and that once is the only one that matters

This was back in March and I have yet to fire a bullet thru any of my pistols. 🤦🏼‍♀️ 🤦🏼‍♀️ I really enjoyed shooting at my class but still feel so intimidated and afraid to walk into a gun range! Sad but true. Thank You for your channel! I continue to educate myself on shooting and really appreciate your content.

Natalie, look into joining A Girl and A Gun, there may be a local chapter near you. I started shooting in July 2020 and I got involved in the club and have also taken other classes with the same instructor. I’m making new friends, participating in Steel Plate competitions, and no longer afraid to go to the range alone. Just this weekend, we had a Girls Weekend with self defense and legal seminars, a Glock demo with their reps, and a full day of drills at the range today. I have pistol envy btw. I only have two. Congrats and welcome to the sisterhood!

I have my concealed carry permit, but honestly I know I need more training in order to be a safe gun carrier. I have only carried a few times, because I figure not being skilled could be more dangerous than not being armed. I do still carry my pepper spray. Thanks so much, and congrats again!

I am a business owner. During the summer of 2020, I was very disturbed with the numerous riots and business break ins throughout the country. I have decided to become a gun owner. I have purchased a .22LR rifle and a .22LR pistol. I have used these guns to get comfortable with handling guns. I also took a basic gun course at my local gun shop. Now I am feeling comfortable with handling guns, I am about to purchase a 9 mm pistol and train for a CCW permit. I look forward to your videos about carrying a concealed gun.

I just asked you this exact question on IG Monday!! 😃 Congrats! 🍾 100k 👏🏼 Having grown up with a father who was a narcotics officer I was familiar with firearms and had opportunities to go to the range with him on several occasions. They’re actually some of my best memories of him. Having my own cc license I want to practice this right responsibly, just as he did and pass down my knowledge to my daughter and my loved ones. l want them to not only feel safe knowing I carry but safe in knowing I carry confidently. Whoever you choose will be so blessed. I already signed up for the waitlist prior to this so either way I’ll be signing up once it’s up and running! 😊 Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.

Is it so hard to be pleasant when someone approaches them to spent hundreds of dollars? I have gone to online purchases using a local FFL. The hassle of dealing with dealer dusche bags has gotten more than I can stand. And the markups are stupid. Its like they havent heard of the internet yet.

Just a word of caution. This is addressing the Senior Citizens. I'm 55 and have my head on straight but, anyone can get to the point while aging that they can get to a point that one should NOT be handling firearms. Good measuring tool is driving habits diminishing as one gets older. Listen to your family or even the stranger at the gas pump who tells you your driving is getting bad. Too many seniors (Boomers) have HUGE egos that need to be put in check. I have even told my children who are adults that if they see me slipping to not be offended and tell me my driving is getting bad before I possibly hurt or kill someone. My kids are more than happy to drive me somewhere. I live in a mid sized midwest town that is rapidly filling up with military and federal government retirees. You see it everyday the bad driving by these individuals who when confronted politely tend to get very angry to the point I seen one get cocky and a younger guy punched him out cold at a gas pump, to be fair the old guy did get into the younger guys personal space a bad breath distance. You get what you get in some cases. You were never a bad ass to begin with, so don't start at age 101. I'm Generation X and my kids tell me how they can see how my generation gets along with their generation a whole lot better that my parents (Boomer) generation does with my X generation. I tell them that Gen X are far better listeners then my parent's generation was and they agree. My kids have a Boomer grandmother that everything goes in one ear and out the other and ALWAYS has to have her way. I like the comments I receive from my kids concerning this. Listening is very important, it can solve a problem if done right before there is a worse problem to confront. Some just need to put spoiled hard egos on a back burner and be an honest listener. Truth can hurt but, one can learn if they are being an adult about it.

The elderly were murdered en masse April 2020. Handling a firearm is far different than handling a ton of high speed metal. Your assessment is fraught with so many irrational points that I’m sure you know very little about the brain or the changes it goes through as one ages. As for how “stubborn” boomers are…we have a generation and a half who thinks a centralized government is a good idea. You might be Gen-X, but you sound like Gen-Y.

@@josephcoon5809 It is not my fault some peoples brains do not work as well as they age and this sometimes translates into poor driving causing deaths and injuries that I deal with daily and see it first hand. So your saying the older BAD drivers are supposed to be given a free pass when they seriously injure or kill innocent people ? Do your research and you will see your Boomer Generation ruined an economy, thats a fact. Your generation is selfish beyond belief, very self centered. After just recently doing a deposition for two accident attorneys and one accident investigator for an accident I witnessed I heard it first hand from them that seniors ARE the number 1 killers on the road today.

@@rtaggs8178 Here’s how ridiculous your argument is: “3. Youth killed in gun accidents are shot by other youth The majority of people killed in firearm accidents are under age 24, and most of these young people are being shot by someone else, usually someone their own age. The shooter is typically a friend or family member, often an older brother. By contrast, older adults are at a far lower risk of accidental firearm death, and most often are shooting themselves. This article highlights one of the many benefits of the National Violent Death Reporting System (NVDRS). Before the NVDRS, data on the shooter in unintentional gun deaths was not readily available.” - harvard dot edu Now, if we factor in homicides, then we would conclude that those under 24 are the most dangerous with firearms so should not be allowed to drive vehicles. See how ridiculous it is to use the statistics for ONE scenario to make judgements on a completely different scenario? Why didn’t you post the statistics for accidental gun death/injuries perpetrated by older people? That would be far more relevant than mentioning driving habits.

@@josephcoon5809 Sorry but, I have a son with a Phd in Economics so sorry your wrong. See you skipped over the Senior Killer thihg. CDC Injury Center- Drivers 70+ have a higher crash rate per mile than middle-aged drivers 35-54. Drivers 65 and older are 16% more likely to cause an accident than adult drivers between 25 and 64 years of age. One of the attorneys I talked to at the deposition with his firm alone has recovered over $ 100,000,000 in settlements and verdicts, all seniors drivers as the cause. He also has a 98% success rate on settlements and 100% success rate in jury trials, all being seniors drivers as the cause. I don't expect like facts but, there it is. I know your generation is never at fault it is always someone else who is. So you have to stoop to rudeness because you don't like what you read. Guess that is someone else's fault also ?

Just before the world went insane or maybe as it started going full on batshit I was buying a concealed carry pistol having finally gotten my permit. Lady 4-5 feet down the counter is lookie-louing every gun in the .380 case and sweeping the hell out of me, the guy helping me, the employee helping her and everyone else in range. I looked over and asked "Would you please stop sweeping me and others with those guns? It's making me really uncomfortable." and she got all pissy and angry, slammed the gun she had in her hand down bitching that it was empty, the action was open the triggers were locked. On and on. And hey, I don't like guns pointed at me, could you NOT? People are weird.

Very good video. I’m a combat, disabled, and retired vet of 20+ plus year and with that said we get a lot of weapons training and shooter. Especially over that many years. However, we don’t get etiquette training for a gun shop. We get etiquette training military style which means when you first go in and handle a weapon if you pointing the wrong direction you are going to be getting yelled at and be doing a lot of push-ups. This video you did with the EDDIE kid in mind in the store was spot on fantastic and I know it will help a lot of people that are first learning what they need to do when they go into a gun store. Good job and great presentation from both you and the clerk at the store. Your quality videos are much appreciated not only this one but all the ones that you’ve done that I’ve watched were you and your husband or showing different holsters different conceal techniques and so on so fourth are great! Always sweep the room, show your firearm expertise with a quick draw, try and load the weapon to verify that it’s the caliber they claim, test the glass countertop for shatter resistance, if possible while waiting for service help the salesman by lecturing another prospective customer on the firearm from your perspective, and finally beat them up on price in a loud tone of voice and demand free ammunition be included. Oh yeah, always mention that the same gun is much cheaper on line!
